Ocean World: Eden Crafters Prologue

Ocean World: Eden Crafters Prologue

Idea: more advanced map menu
Now there are markers for fields and ships on the map, and you can put your own. This is already something, but I would like to see the development of the map menu over time.
- The ability to place multi-colored GPS markers with different icons and give them names, let’s say the player discovered something interesting, this will give him a clearer idea of what is in that place and will allow him not to forget, even if he has not entered the game for a long time .
- The ability to highlight areas in the form of squares and rectangles and give them names (this is a rather rare feature for maps in the game, if it can be implemented), will allow the player to name the areas of his factory in order to understand directly from the map where what is being produced, this is very convenient.
- The ruler that shows meters and kilometers is visible by default. So that the player understands the scale and can estimate how far to go to the desired undiscovered place.
- The map menu is available initially (but with the fog of war), but even so the player’s location is not shown as a specific point, but only with a very large radius of action where he can approximately be. A more accurate location of the player can be done using two things: installing a GPS module in the character's overalls, this is the first step. Then launching a rocket with a geo-positioning satellite is the second step. Here I propose to change the mechanics so as not to repeat Planet Crafter. To operate a basic GPS module in a suit, you will need 1-4 satellites in orbit; to operate an advanced GPS module in a suit, you will need 8-16 satellites in orbit. Satellites do not increase the size of the visible map, but simply help the module in the suit operate at full capacity.
- Before the player reaches the GPS navigation in the map menu, he will be able to navigate using a compass (a module installed in the overalls) and radio tags, radio tags can be placed like a pole in the ground (this worked interestingly in Satisfactory), such a radio -the mark was detected using a hand-held scanner, which had to be held in the hands, and it was visible only at a certain distance.
Those. We are going from a compass and radio beacons to a high-precision GPS.
- Regarding the automatic removal of the “fog of war” from the map, another satellite, say a cartographic one, may be useful here. It will gradually remove the fog, sector by sector; perhaps sectors can even be selected for research and made into a queue. The mapping satellite also shows equipment on the map, such as drones, if they are added to the game.
- Weather satellite. Unlocks a different system of filters in the map that show wind flows, water currents, heat maps, radiation locations, etc.
- For a cooperative game, a table of cartographic notes (a large LCD table) would be useful; this is an analogue of the “cartographer’s table” from Valheim, when players can exchange new discoveries on the map with each other.
- The map menu shows satellites launched into orbit, which improve the operation of the map.
Thank you!
