Keyboard not working

I'm trying to play on my laptop. I have no game controllers or joysticks plugged in but my keyboard doesn't work at all, I can't even skip the opening animations. My mouse works once I get into the game but when I go to options there is no controller option just sound and video. Can anyone help? I really want to play this game but can't if I can't use my keyboard!
