every time i start the game, the loading screen appears for a split second and then closes with this error, i validated the integrity of the files multiple times, and if it helps, I do have Portal 2 installed on the same drive.

I have tried this and it has worked. First right click on the game and select properties. Then go to local files and press verify integrity of game files. If that doesn’t fix it, you want to go to the portal 2 folder which you installed portal 2. Click on the folder named “portal2” you will see scripts folder. Delete that folder and go back to steam. Now right click on the portal 2 game on steam, go to local files and verify integrity of game files. Then launch aperture tag. Hope this helps!
