global warming needs a re-work
tutorial missions were great! lots of fun. couldn't wait to get into the free mode and build up.

Once the emissions become negative, it's pretty much game over. No matter how hard you try to build sustainable colonies, your competitors beat you by burning everything to the ground, and don't seem to react at all to the possibility of climate change. The world congress measures are WAY too lenient as a method to slow global warming. There need to be more radical actions that can be taken to mitigate climate change, and the AI needs to consider going into climate change game-over as a negative and try to avoid it.*

*I'm happy with one or two corps that don't care and always run up emissions, that's interesting. However, in my games even the "sustainable" corps were busy building mines and had the highest CO2 emissions. There need to be ways to prevent an enemy corp from doing so (tons of in-game items and actions are little more than griefing).

Catch a gaian temple that lets you rise the ground, rise your colony above the other and let them drown in water as ozean levels are rising. :) Build some shields against the tornados and storms and you will be fine.

Or be faster. If you have a grasp of the game you can beat the ai faster than they can destroy a planet. In competetive mode I rarely ever see climate collapse.
Take over the dirtiest corpos first and re-design them.

It could be because we made fossil fuels more competitive in the last update. So that you don't have to automatically rely on renewable energy from the start. Maybe we have to adjust the AI behavior now. It would be good to get more assessments on this. So that we can improve the balancing at the next opportunity.

Hi!
I don't tell you more better advices than Roderick..
But there is in the workshop a very good map named : Cold industries
If you try it ,(At level normal or hard ! because the lastets patches ) you will may understand easily how to play the game when the climate collapse ...:steamhappy:

True, I can win a competitive game before dealing with climate change. I'm more thinking of "endless" mode, where there is no way to "win" before climate collapse. Buying shares of other companies isn't a reasonable strategy for taking them over; you can't simultaneously build a colony and buy enough shares of 5 other competitors.

A way I approach the problem is to hold on to my shares until later into the game where the value is high, while also taking advantage of the world policies on carbon tax and emission levy. When the sea levels start to rise, I pool up my money and make sure any of my city centers are above maximum flood level. From there I use carbon sequestration technology to keep the climate from collapsing while also having the money to maintain the buildings. The AI will get destroyed from their own damage and you'll outlast them by getting emission levy grants from the world fund, they wont be able to compete and will go out of business on the planet. Additionally a carbon tax will put the AI in a worse position while you are unaffected because since you are sequestrating all of your carbon footprint you're not taxed for it. Given enough time, the AI wont be able to recover, you will be able to deconstruct your redemption buildings, while the planet slowly recovers, this gives you even more time to keep making the carbon policies even more strict to get rid of any AI that's managed to survive. From this point what you want to do is up to you.

You can spam the remediation centers as long as you have midas digger to sell you good stuff for the gold that is taking up space in your inventory

I hate when I leave my ice water full on the table in the summer and all the ice melts and pushes all the water out on to the table.

I don't think that happens. Frozen Water has more volume than liquid water. So if ice melts, it actually needs less volume afterwards.

That's true but almost all of the world's ice happens to be on the land and not floating in the water - 90% in Antactica and the other 10% in Greenland so if some of it melts, it's not going to reduce world sea levels ;)
