Krita
2 in 1 and using a pen in desktop mode
Hi! I recently bought a 2 in 1 laptop with the hopes of being able to use the touchscreen for my art and graphics. My stylus is awesome when I'm doing vector type designs but doesn't have pressure in Photoshop for my digital drawing and painting needs so I've been looking for a program that does. I tried the demo but it was limited to sketch/tablet mode, which I didn't like that much as the main interface which I tried with the free Krita version. That Krita doesn't have the pressure sensitivity for my 2 in 1 that I need (unless I'm mistaken and am missing out on this feature??), which is the main reason I was looking into Gemini but I wanted to know if using a pen automatically puts the program into sketch/tablet mode? I'd like to know before I buy it. Any guidance would be helpful!! I'd really love to be able to use my touch screen to it's full potential instead of relying solely on my Wacom tablet for drawing (as much as I love it).

It depends a bit on the device. With a yoga, the automatic switch happens when folding the laptop over, with a surface pro when detaching the keyboard. On a Helix, there's no automatic switch. I'm not sure about other devices, these are the ones I have access to.

As for pressure sensitivity, I'd need to know the brand of the laptop. You can always download the sketch trial from steam and the free desktop version from krita.org and check.

I have the Asus Transformer T300 Chi and the Asus Chi Stylus. The stylus has 256 pressure sensitivity (not high but enough for basics) and works on apps as OneNote so I know it's not an issue of the pen that I can tell.

Has the pressure sensitivity worked for other tablet laptops on desktop Krita? It works fine with my Wacom but I wasn't able to make it work with the pen to screen so I just guessed it wasn't something I could do. The pressure actually didn't work in the sketch mode demo either but there was no way in that mode to check the settings.
