PLS HELP space/ mouse wheel/right click problem
Ive used krita for nearly a decade now, i have hundreds of hours of experience with it, and like to think i know what im doing. However im at a complete loss on how to fix this.

Since approximately December, ive had this intermittent issue where the mouse wheel, space bar, and right clicking, just randomly stops working.
As in it works fine when i start krita, but then randomly stops working after some amount of time passes.
Throughout all of this, regular brush strokes and other features work fine. I can also still pan the canvas by dragging the bars on the side.

The most baffling thing is it also seems to randomly fix itself after some time passes, only to then rebreak again later. I don't have exact numbers but I estimate this happens at least 5 times in around 2 hours. Feels like its broken more than not.
IE it works fine for 10 mins, breaks for 15, works for 12, breaks again, ect
If it was full time i would assume some hardware issue on my end, but no other programs have this problem, and as stated above krita does work, some of the time.

I have seen posts from others online claiming similar issues, but ive only personally experienced these issues for around a month, and those posts are years old and none of the solutions suggested in those threads seems to help me.

Reinstalling krita has not fixed it.

Updating my drivers has not fixed it.

Updating my tablets Drivers has not fixed it.

Restarting my tablets Drivers has not fixed it.

Tabbing into/out of full canvas mode has not fixed it

Completely disconnecting my tablet and working with mouse has not fixed it, so i know its not the tablet/stylus.

Restarting krita temporarily fixes the issue but it inevitably happens again after 10 mins or so.

My OS is windows10, my graphics card is nvidia, my tablet is a HUION KAMVAS 22 and im using the current steam version of krita.
This is starting to drive me INSANE so any suggestions or help is much appreciated

Rolling back to version 4 did not fix the issue. I thought maybe it might have something to do with the brush pack I imported, so i tried again without the pack, just to be sure, and still had the issue.
Even with a clean install of version 4 without any custom anything, the problem still persists.
Which leaves me to believe it must be some kind of hardware issue on my end.

At a complete loss as to what that could be. the intermittent and seemingly random nature of the problem is really throwing me.

guess ill try using a different mouse and see if anything changes.

if anyone has any other suggestions id love to hear them because ive been at this for hours and im truly out of ideas :torielsad:

Nothing unless you have changed the shortcuts.

Idk I can't blame the mouse but you said your keyboard won't work? Does this happened to other software? Try gimp or other free apps.

I would change the use / no USB hub

Are u using laptop?

tried resetting all shortcuts to default just in case. problem still persists.

keyboard works fine in all other apps, mouse works fine in all other apps.

I am using desktop, and have no noticeable problems outside of krita.
I've realized it cant be the mouse, because the same problems happen when i use the "right click" button on my stylus.

it seems to be that the problem is simply that zooming and panning the canvas intermittently breaks.
If i try and use space+ leftclick to pan, nothing happens, if i try to hold middle mouse down to pan, nothing happens. If i try to use the mouse wheel to zoom, nothing happens.

All shortcuts related to panning or zooming in any way, randomly cease functioning, with no discernible cause. only to randomly fix itself after a few minutes.

I tried using ctrl+] to rotate the canvas while the issues were happening and it worked fine. so keyboard inputs are still working in general, only right mouse click, mouse wheel zooming, and panning the canvas seem to be effected.

whats was your v4 version? i heard ppl was complaining about 5v but not with 4v?

can you try change the the panning shortcut with simple key ? such as "p" ? for testing

stay away from Ctrl, alt ,shift because the are modifiers and they translator differently by the system.

edit don't use f11-f24 just normal litters as shortcut cna plz replay back

the version i rolled back to was 4.4.8

I tested rebinding zoom to the P and L keys and waited for the problem to surface, and when it did, using L, and P, WORKED even when the mouse wheel did not.

not a perfect fix, but guess i can make do with this.

Hi thanks for replay as i believe there is issue with complicated keys because the are translated by the system, idk if the problem with krita or with their qt code but i guess it will work with krita v5

did you use "direct3D 11 via angle"?
siitings> config>display>canvas acceleration

yeah sadly not a perfect fix unless if dev fix them , you can use them untill devs fix the bug, or maybe talk to other krita artist which version they use.

also, did this happened when you are using admin right? as long i don't recommended it but maybe you can try

you need to run the table driver via admin right to use it tho.
kuromi Jan 24, 2024 @ 3:13am
running via admin did nothing

at this point i just give up and am resigning myself to just live with it until i can find an alternative software
hey i have the exact same issue, just randomly start happening, not a clear cause, when i start the program is okay, then i swich windows for one sec and sudently is not working anymore.... i dont understand why just suddently this happen while i have been working with krita and my tablet for the last 3 years and no problems at all
