Pixel grid not showing

I wanted to make some pixel art and found it amazing that Krita has a pixel grid now, but it's not showing. I lowered the requirements for zooming in and it still didn't work (I'm zoomed in at 2363% and the grid should start showing up at 2000%). I then looked around and saw that there's an option to show the pixel grid under "view" but it's permanently turned off (it's the only option under view that I can't change). Does anyone know a fix?

Maybe the grid color is the same as the background color so it is effectively "invisible" when the canvas is empty.
