Trying to jump onto the boxes from the fan does not work. The moment I jump onto the fan, I slide right off onto the ground again. Seems they have fixed obtaining the star that way.

Can someone please help?

I just used the old method of building a staircase with 3 boxes. Assuming all 4 puzzles have been solved...

• Get a blue connector airborne in Jammer Quarantine
  
• In Three Little Connectors...and a Fan, get a connector on a box on the fan and target the airborne connector from Jammer. Use another connector to power up the fan.
  
• In Weathertop, bring the two boxes over to where the star is. Use two connectors to bring the outside blue beam into the puzzle and then into the back of the puzzle to open up a gate. Use the jammer to open up the subsequent gate to get the 3rd box.
  
• Build a stairway and claim the star.

Still work but instead of jumping on the fan, stack boxes there and one connector.
Now go find the eater egg that "gives you wings" (Not the rocket launcher Jet Pack (didn't even notice the typo) obviously) and aim for the wood fence nest to that fan (as its the only one could jump on). Walk over and grab the things and the star is your. (It is basically the same as the old trick, beside the flying part)
You can also get a few boxes in there and climb to the star.

Or you could solve it the intended way, who knows why.

Thank you mikeweber. I was missing the entire point of connecting through the entrance to the puzzle. I was making it impossible. JEEZ!!

Joridiculous, There's an Easter egg that gives you wings that is NOT the jet pack??
Wow!! Now I have more exploring to do.

No, I think J was referring to the jet pack. Yes you could get the jet pack from the back of "Big Stairs, Little Stairs" and just fly to the star (as well as just about anywhere else on C3). I was just providing a solution using official 'in game' assets :D. As a matter of fact, if you turn on dev commentary, there is a convenient 'dev note' placed right by the location of the jet pack.

Correct. You have to solve the puzzles (ok. im not 100% you need all of them) and get the stars.

Confirmed - ran a new game and 'jumped' to C03. Without any stars, the way to the jet pack is barred by physical barriers. As far as the 'red bull' Easter egg in the back of Weathertop (behind the purple barrier and down) - when you touch Sam in Carbonite, it is very tricky to maneuver yourself to the star area (or even close to the star area onto 2 stacked boxes so you can jump into the area). I'll stick by the old fashioned method of getting the 3rd box...
