The Talos Principle: Reawakened

Motion Sickness
Can I just start by saying aside from the motion sickness this is a great demo! I really like the improvements they've made over the original game!

That said, I’ve never had issues with the original game or 99% of other titles, but both Talos 2 and this Reawakened demo make me feel motion sick surprisingly fast. I’ve played around with various settings, and while I can usually last about an hour, it eventually gets too uncomfortable

Has anyone found good ways to reduce motion sickness in this game? I’d love to hear what’s worked for others

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
  • Field of View (FOV) – 120 seems to work best for me, though I’ve tested values like 90 and 100 as well
  • Motion Blur Strength – Set to 0%, I assume any blurring just makes things worse.
  • View Bobbing – Off, a no-brainer?
  • Carriable Item Bobbing – Off, a no-brainer?
  • Preferred View Type – Tried both first and third person. No major difference for me, though I’ve heard third person helps some people
  • Player Speed – Slow works best, but I admit I get impatient and sometimes bump it to Medium 😅
  • Framerate – 120 FPS definitely helps compared to 60 FPS makes me feel worse quicker, though hitting 120 means lowering graphical settings a bit
  • Upscaling Method – Using FSR, which gives me higher FPS than other options like DLSS (I'm on a 3080)
  • Input Device – I usually play with a controller, but I’m curious if switching to mouse/keyboard might help with the motion sickness
  • Crosshair – Left it on, I’d guess turning it off might make it worse?
  • V-Sync – Off, I don’t experience screen tearing, so no need for it I assume

If anyone has additional tips, tricks, or settings I should try, please let me know!

My only observation is this: If you have Vsync off, set the frame rate limit to whatever your monitor can handle, but no more. There may be some micro stuttering you don't notice that is getting to you.

I have the same problem, aside from your list something that works for me is to consume ginger while playing.

Ginger has a long history of preventing motion sickness, it does work. I usually use a grater and put the grated ginger in a tea bag and then put the tea bag in a bottle of water which I then drink while playing.

At least for me:

1) getting enough sleep helps to reduce motion sickness.

2) Reduce the mouse sensitivity so the view turn rate is slower. Talos is not a battle royale game after all.
