Ranged weapons
Will stakes always be an issue for ranged players? They are so expensive and seem to be in short supply.

With the bow skill you get not only a dmg bonus, but an ever increasing % of enemies killed with a crossbow to drop a stake. You will also sometimes find 20-50 stakes in dungeon chests.

You have to be somewhat conservative with them, specially in the beggining of the game.

As a final note in my lvl 70 criminal, i leveled up some melee skills and use a melee weapon to deal with weaker, not worthy of my stakes, enemies.

What kind of stats did you put in for your criminal? Did you go a mix of str and dex?
Sir Whiskers Sep 22, 2015 @ 11:06am
Dex, str, some persuassion at first, some vitality points aswell.

On a side note, a spell that would be usefull for a ranged character would be shadowflame since it freezes your enemies for some time.

Do you think you will ever reach a point where you will be purely ranged?

Ammo is designed to be expensive and limited, since otherwise it can be too OP if you can shoot everything from a distance throughout the entire game. (really want to invest points into bow skill to increase your chance of retrieving some of those stakes back - also a talent later on shoots an additional free stake with each shot)

Totally forgot about the crossbow talent, yes, that is something you will want as it literally doubles your shots.

That's to bad, I was hoping to play criminal almost as a third person shooter. :D

If enough players want it... I may make a DLC that caters more to shooter fans with large amounts of stakes/uv bullets found everywhere.

This would make it perfect for me.

There's also the headshot that was recently added, it causes x2 dmg or x3, you should try aiming at the head of monsters, to save more stakes/bullets.

I dont understand, I've been playing criminal for a while and im swiming on stakes, it usually takes 1 or 2 headshots to kill something and I now have 113 stakes in my inventory...

You can also use splash damage with it and use stake storm, so you're dealing like 6x critical damage while killing everything else in sight in one shot, and the deeper I go, the more stakes I seem to find.

The criminal is the ranged class, whether or not that' actually true it's what people think when he is the option holding a crossbow. Thankfully they bathe you in stakes after a little running through the dungeon, I ended up finding stacks of 40-50 stakes at a time and since one of the first drops I got was a really good stake shotgun I will probably get more stakes than I use.

I'll probably keep upgrading my melee just in case, but so far in how little I played I noticed the game dumps a lot of stakes and glyphs on you. Much appreciated.

To the DLC the dev mentioned: Make it a free update, and don't act like your not already pandering. Just develop more items and guns if you feel like making your game more interesting, it's your show. What you may want to DLC would be stuff like a new dungeon

He was being sarcastic towards certain playerbases/games, there's no such thing intended.
I believe.

I'm a gun/shooter fan, not real fond of melee combat if I can fight from range so I would like this.
