Pacifist playthrough question
when you destroy one of those large robot-attacke-things, they activate a "self destruct sequence" in which they blow up. However, this kills any enemies in the radius of the explosion. Does anybody know if this prevents you from getting the pacifist achievment?

I'm not sure, but I do know I went out of my way to avoid finding out the hard way. Robots tend to spawn without human support, so it's only a real concern during a very specific scenario late-game where you need to protect a non-descript helicopter -- if you want to be safe, just drag any nearby bodies away -before- you EMP that robot.

http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Pacifist says "Exploding bots may result in a kill. (does not affect achievement)", but I've found its accuracy to be questionable -- I followed it to the T for a Missing Link achievement and ended up not getting it despite adherence.

Save often!
Yes, that will cancel out your Pacifist trophy. You also have to watch out for enemies that fire and hit explosive barrels and blow themselves up. That one's really annoying as well.
finally got my pacifist and foxiest of hounds achievement, some things to note

1) killing robots with Emp grenade or mine "doesnt" affect either of the achievements but make sure no body is lying around in the vicinity cause the bot explodes when using emp mine or grenade and may kill someone thereby affecting the achievements. when you return to Hengsha for 2nd time you have to destroy the robot, but make sure no one is lying around, using a stun gun on robot/turrent/camera only disables it for a short while
2) make sure the sign over each one you knockout is Zzzz and not a skull icon, DO NOT put knocked out opponents in vents/closets
3) when combating 2 or more people simultaneously make sure all of them are knocked out fast before they raise alarm, you may see Hostile appearing over your maps but thats ok doesnt affect the achievements
4) Trigger Alarm means any wall mounted alarm going off and or multiple enemies converging to your location based on noise production
5) DO NOT use tranquilizer gun/ PEP gun, because a tranquilizer when aimed at head sometime kills the opponent and PEP has a knockback effect which may trigger death due to collision, Stun gun is the safest option

wow i just realized ive aciddentally killed people by headshoting them with the tranq gun, putting bodies in vents, and with the robot explosion thing
Does putting unconcious people in vents kill them? That's stupid. Vents are often the only decent place to hide bodies.
yea vents and closets kill unconcious people , and they arent a decent place :P

anyways if you intend to hide bodies theres a simple trick, get cones of vision aug so as you will know how far an npc can actually see, all you need to do is hide the body a little further

About point 2: Putting knocked out opponents in vents has not been a problem for me(and I have played this game quite a few times). That has been the best place to keep them as there is no way the other opponents look for them there. I know this as I have gone back and checked that they have the Zzzz icon on them after finishing the level. Yeah I know that is a bit much, but I wanted the Pacifist achievement so badly :) .

I would not recommend getting the cones of vision aug as the praxis points can go to other better augs for a stealth build, but that is of course the player's choice. For any walkthrough needs I would recommend www.gamefaqs.com. You will find the info regarding the best build for stealth playthroughs in the main game walkthroughs as well as the augmentation faqs at the site.

Vents, in them selves, do not kill people. What usually kills guys stuffed in vents is staking too many too close togeather. When I leave plenty of space between bodies, I never have any problems.

I stuff bodies in vents all the time, and it doesn't kill them. The problem lies in stuffing bodies on top of one another in vents, or too far from a vent opening. They have to be able to get themselves out once they wake up. Also, if you place them under grills in the floor, they will get plenty of air so they won't suffocate.

I also use tranks almost all the time. Usually, they don't kill. Shooting them in the head with a trank can kill at close range, But, long range head (or actually neck) shots just knock them out quicker. Also, when you shoot some of the guys that shows up as green (aka, friendly) at the time you shoot them with a trank, or even a stun gun, it can and usually does kill them. Specific examples of this are:
1) Gun dealers and their guards.
2) The gang guard at the apartment where your supposed to leave the gang leader alive so he can be arrested. You have to approach the door guard and let him turn you away, then do a non-lethal take down on him, otherwise he dies. The rest you can KO, or stun.
3) The two guys hanging out by the burning barrel and care with the barricades in the DRB territory and the third guy talking to the hooker at the street entrance. Darting and even stunning can wind up killing them. To take them out, you have to do it hand to hand, sneaking up on them.

Another thing I discovered is, don't stack bodies anywhere, especially underneath any kind of structure where you have to crouch to get into it. First off, stacking bodies can lead to suffocation. I also discovered a glitch where hiding more than two bodies under the loading dock walkway in the back way into DRB territory will cause one of the guys to, some how, get stuck IN the boardwalk. It’s like he just materialized in through the boards. Once he’s stuck, there is no getting him out. And usually, he winds up dying.

If you really want to just go Pacifist then you could easily let the second trip to Hengsha go wrong at the start. I think at this point, it wouldn't be much of a spoiler since most have played the game through by now. But I won't be specific anyway.
If anyone still cares, I recently played throught the game and I can confirm that robot self destucts that kill knocked out enemies do not affect the pacifist acheivment. Also, putting bodies in vents is okay as long as they are near air holes and are not stacked on other bodies.
I have another question:

Is there any way to know when I killed somebody by accident? A statistic or something I can check?

Simply save a lot and check all bodies for icons. If they got skull icon (dead) then load earlier save, if they got zzz icon (unconsious) then its good. Annoying and time consuming method but the most sure one.

And the only one that I've found. Except finishing the level which is way too late if the one that died was one of your first encounters on that level.

I wish they would've put some sort of stats regester in the game too, so you could check that. But, there hasn't been such a stat's tracking system in any of the Deus Ex games either.

It is possable to get through that level and that sequence without killing anyone. It's a real &#$()&, but it can be done. I've done it. And, that's without killing anyone with the selfdestructing robot. Although, what someone else was saying about selfdestructing robots killing other not counting againsts you is true. When I actually aquired the acheivement the first time... AND saved a friend, I took out as many as I could around the perrifery with non-leathal takedowns, or stun gun while invisable before the bot was dropped. As soon as the bot was dropped, I hit it with an EMP and when it blew, it took out several guys for me. Leavine me with mostly stipers.
I've completely forgot to add the fact, that you can't kill ANYBODY in prologue aswell. You have to either sneak by or do a speedrun in prologue. Learned that the hard way.......
