Graphics Tearing
Hey all. I seem to be having some issues with the graphics in this game even though my current specs should absolutely be able to handle it. I've seen a surprising amount of tearing and it doesn't seem to handle motion well in general. My video card is a GeForce GTX 670M. Any suggestions wuld be greatly appreciated.

Turning on Vsync should fix all your tearing issues

Already have it on.

Also, just had the game crash telling me I may not have the system resources to run it on medium settings. Having a hard time believing that one.

Try forcing v-sync in your graphics card.

Yeh also force triple buffering if enabling v-sync (should stop tearing)

I have enabled both on the graphics card. Still slight tearing in game and horrible tearing during cut scenes. I've tried re-installing the game as well.

Is your GPU overclocked?, Does this do this on all screen resoulutions?, Have you tried different graphics drivers?, Does it do it using/Not using Directx11?, Have you tried window mode?. Im using driver 310.70 on gtx 460. I only get tearing on my 42inch tv when frames go over 60, v-sync sorts that problem for me.
Try checking your fps using "Fraps" see if there is a pattern, also check gpu temp. If all fails you could lower your gpu core clock down abit using msi afterburner to reduce fps & eliminate tearing. (If fps to high is your problem, im not convinved it is as v-sync would stopped tearing).

If you actually had Vsync enabled, you wouldn't have tearing. It is impossible to have tearing if Vsync is enabled.

Turn down your graphics settings.

My gaming laptop which I bought last month, top of the line everything from I buy power has trouble with this game. Best Nvidia card I could get in it, My desktop which I bought last year that has a radeon 6900 series video card in it, Has no trouble whatsoever. I have no Idea why that is, my laptop should destroy this game and I have all the same issues you are having on it.

Well I hate to say it, but I do believe you're wrong sir. I've had terrible screen tear on cutscenes with VSync and Triple Buffering on.

I had similar problems with the game running very badly. I had no issues when it came out and I was using a 460gtx, but after upgrading to a 670 it was rough as hell.

This fixed the problem for me, now I can use max settings and it's totally smooth again:

Open Regedit

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HR
Set "D3D11_CREATE_DEVICE_PREVENT_INTERNAL_THREADING_OPTIMIZATIONS" to 1.

Gave that a shot, still no dice. It's absurd how bad the tearing is with this game. I've never seen anything like it.

i have the same problem. running on my samsung laptop the specs are i5-3210 cpu and 650m nvidia (ddr3) gpu. i have 60 fps when standing still and variations down to 55 when moving.

  • i tried that vsync + tripple buffer. it didnt help anything
  • i can't seem to change the refresh rate it's locked in both in the configurator and in-game options.

NOW WHAT HELPED was kicking the game down to dx9. no jittering, very smooth. but still i would like to play it as good looking as possible. will have to try regedit and maby search for other gpu driver..... any other ideas?

U could try opening task manager while game is running, (on windows 8 choose details in task manager) right click and choose affinity on dxhr.exe try different sequences with cores enabled & disabled.
Anolther thought does changing "Field of view" in gameplay settings make any difference?
