Sound delay/lag when firing weapon
So I've had this game for a few months and am just getting around to playing it, pretty excited. Load it up, start playing, running great everything looks good, get the assault rifle, click fire. Muzzle flash, bullet hole, shell casing pops out.....wait, where is the sound? Oh, there it is, like half a second later! You have got to be kidding me. Googled sound delay and found a couple hundred people who have the same problem...and no fix. Isn't this game half a year old? It's unbelievable! I mean, the frickin' shell casing is a foot away from my gun when I hear the sound of the shot!!!

I guess a lot of people don't care or don't notice or something, but to me it seems unacceptable. It's hard to understand why this problem hasn't been addressed by anyone with the ability to fix it. It wasn't in any reviews I've read and none of the others with the problem seemed to be able to find help anywhere.

Based on the distance the casing is from the gun at the time I hear the sound, the sound in this game is traveling at a jaw-droping 1.36 mph! Hey, that's only 558 times slower than sound in the real world! I really thought this game took place in a future version of this world, but I guess it takes place on some other planet.

Maybe not everyone has that problem like, me. I heard it, the shot and all. Sry for this unexpected loss for you. Hope you get it fixed. Great game even though I'm not all that far into it. Too any games to set a schedule for, to play. LOL.

I pre-ordered the game & still haven't played it for this very reason. Shocking, & as you say, unacceptable

Happens on my Realtek onboard audio as well as my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4.

Afaik, this was seen on the forum by mods and such, and they did ask for info on the issue, such as the audio device and the drivers used, but that's as far as it went I think. Kiiiinda sucks.

does anyone not experience this gun delay?

Does anyone know if this sound lag is standard with all weapons? It seemed that somewhere I read that only 2 weapons were afflicted (rifle and one other ???)

I forgot to mention in my original post that I had just finished building a new computer and so I was able to test Deus Ex: HR on two different machines. And I Mean Different! Every single piece of hardware in my new build was different than my old system. X-Fi in one, Realtek in the other. Nvidia card in one, ATI in the other. There was only one thing I didn't do, and that is test it on XP. Maybe I'll try that someday and see what happens. I highly doubt it will solve anything.
