Yes, in the DC you have to play through the game up until the docks, then it starts the Missing Link. DC includes the Missing Link. In the original version, the Missing Link is a stand-alone DLC (It is a separate executable in your Steam library) and you can play it whenever you want, separate from the main game - granted you have purchased it separately. The Ultimate version also includes both the main game and Missing Link DLC, but comes without the bugs/'enhancements' inherent of the current DC version.
I don't have DC either.
