@rage39a
i assumed that there would at least be a save location once reaching the new chapters, however having save locations even halfway through the chapters would be nice, since the chapters are so long.
i cant speedrun like the developer in that video, im not that good. getting halfway through chapter 1, in casual, takes almost an hour cause of stupid mistakes i make, but its also not just the stupid mistakes i make, its that if i die before almost reaching the next checkpoint, which is very far, you go all the way back to the previous checkpoint.
example would be during chapter 1, during the blue metal beam section, having more checkpoints be on all the concrete platforms instead of just 2, would be nice, in casual mode at least.
me being able to get to chapter 2 alone would be like around 3-5 hours. the game is good, the controls are good, i like it and i have the patience for it, but i cant sit and play it for that long just to be able to access a save location. i have chores to do and foster cats to take care of ):
thank you so much! i cant wait for the update (:
it feels a lot better to be able to start closer to where i left off, thank you so much for taking my feedback into consideration!
i also underestimated how long it would take me to get to chapter 2, as the 2nd half of chapter 1 is very difficult haha, im at 11/14. it would probably take me a full day to get to ch 2.
im not sure how the coding works and how much you can add/edit it, but i wouldnt say no to the idea of adding more check points (for casual mode)/ save locations (each section in the chapter or every 1/4th of the chapter, again for casual mode) in the future. please dont hate im just really bad at the game and have bad hands from playing old school runescape. ;o;
Or just give possibility to save a game in casual mode whenever you want :3
I don't know if I make sense but basically, if i have to quit the game and I want to continue playing it's a bit sad to have to work all the way back to the point I was like OP mentionned but i don't think there is a visual cue as to what exactly i reached to say it was saved?
I wish we could save progress before quitting basicaly especially in casual mode. I love the game but that's my main issue, cause it's midnight I need to go to bed and i didn't think it would take me 4 hours to finish the section (I'm super bad I have dyspraxia but I love these games and I'm very determined to play when i die but I love die and retry)
While I do want the game to be enjoyable for as many people as possible, I do still want to keep to my vision for the game as much as possible. The game is quite small and is meant to be an extremely hard rage game as a result initially there were no save points, I did eventually decide to break the level into smaller sub levels and want them to function similar to levels in traditional platformers where you won't be able to save until you have completed the level kind of like crash bandicoot. Each save point can be reached in roughly 5 - 10 minutes provided the player is skilled and has learned the techniques to reach that point.
I do still want this game to be very hard and i feel adding a save point for every checkpoint would make it far too easy especially as players already have unlimited lives. I will still consider it some more as it's a consistent request but getting to a place you were previously if you hadn't reached a save point shouldn't take very long and should help you practice before continuing further down where the challenges get continually harder.
I was wondering then maybe otherwise because sometimes it's hard to see if the place i'm at is a checkpoint, could there be some possibility to have a little indicator that the specific space i'm in or i'm gonna reach is a check point ? I think it helps the brain figure out a bit where was the safespace prior to when I began moving and would help figure out where I would go back to if I where to beging moving further and diying, and where I would reach the next checkpoint a bit like an "objectif" in sight, I don't know if It's in the cards or if it's too much bother to had or not into your vision of the game, but I always found visual cues to be a nice thing, like in a race game when you have the final finish line in your fiel of vision, or such?
Basically not adding an easy line to follow but more flagging where the checkpoints were or are? like a pin ?
Sorry for my bad english it's not my first language and I do understand if whatever i'm saying is not doable or not what you want or too much to ask or whatever I'll still play the game anyway
thank you for your reply i didn't realise that the boxes in kitty sense ment that a checkpoint is there.
