I don't think a remaster that would primarly fix the bugs and stability will ruin something I already like...
It came out a LONG time ago. In 6.5 years it's only sold about 1.1 million units. The series was cancelled 3 years ago when it was confirmed there would be no K&L 3. This was the same year Square Enix acquired Eidos, so put 2 + 2 together. Square Enix is where great games go to die.
I also feel K&L2 had adequate graphics for it's time. The only thing most complained about was the forced pixelated censoring, shaky cam, and onscreen effects, the latter two of which can be disabled. Gameplay wise you sometimes couldn't shoot at certain angles from cover.
The shooting angles were easily overcome by either moving to another spot, or snapping out of cover and just crouching behind it, which is further aided by the ability to switch shoulder view.
There aren't any stability issues though. You must be playing it on a potato PC. It doesn't make sense to do a remake of this game really, and SE will never fund such a project.
I love the game, but there are some (technical) flaws that simply held it back. I'm sure that a remaster containing both games in the series would make a good alternative to Payday by improving multiplayer experience and tweaking some things here and there. Hell, I could write an entire to-do list of tweaks. That's how dedicated I am to an extremely niche game.
Nowadays we're getting remastered editions of games that were already polished and still quite popular to begin with, but since revenue and marketing matter, you're right. Chances for this series are VERY slim, regardless of how many fixes and tweaks can be done.
I don't think that Steam overlay freezing my game for a couple of seconds, long loading times and so-so netcode is caused by my PC (freezing with overlay is probably an issue with the game running on Windows 10, I remember it worked fine on Win7). My PC is totally fine, fast and clean.
Whether or not your PC has anything to do with the bad performance, I still feel it's an impractical idea, especially given the so so sales.
I wish more people felt that way about it. If so, they'd be making a K&L 3.
Or atleast final patch. (broken achievement and things already mentioned here).
Not because of that. Most people didn't like it because of its overall mediocre quality. K&L2 is just a common TPS, where only thing player is doing is shooting, shooting, shooting all the time (and ballistics in this game sucks).
Isn't that the point of 'shooter' games?
