Yeah they are its still a very very annoying problem i cant fix
OMG finally an answer - THANK YOU - but its a shame we dont care now because black mesa's out XD !
This also worked for me. Thanks!
Thanks Gentleman it worked for me
I had the same problem with half-life.v1.34 protocol 48, my player's hand and weapon were not being displayed on the screen, only the weapon's aim or crosshair was showing.
I tried adding this line << r_drawviewmodel "1" >> in the config.cfg file in valve, it didn't work.
After a long search for a solution, I came out empty handed,
Eventually, I decided to open the game and give changing the game resolution a try as someone online tried though it didn't work for them, this did not work for me either.
Then I noticed the Renderer button next to my change resolution button, so I clicked the Renderer button, and it had 3 options (software <By Default>, OpenGL, and Direct3d (or D3D)),
So I changed it to OpenGl, and surprisingly it worked, as simple as that!.
< I have an old laptop (Dell Latitude d630) that D3D worked on it, not OpenGL >
It worked for me (for OpenGL) on:
both -color quality- [16bit & 32bit], and -all 12 resolutions- from [640x480 to 1920x1080], and both -Display Modes- [Normal & WideScreen], though WideScreen might was less efficient for me,
Because on WideScreen about only the weapon was being shown, most of the hand/s if not all of it was not showing, for some or most of it's resolutions.
So Problem Solution is:
Open Half-Life game + Go to Options + Go to Video + Click Renderer (change from software to OpenGL or D3D) + Apply
(( If for some reason u couldn't change game resolution from inside the game u could:
create a shortcut for <hl> + right mouse click Properties + click on Target go to the most right + add space + insert this command line "-dev -console" without double quotes + space + this command line "-w 1920 -h 1080" without double quotes <you pick your preferred resolution>,,
The " -dev -console" could be extra it activates cheats in the first place ))
(( SCREENSHOTS could not work on <OpenGL> or <D3D>, while they work for <software> ))
((As for half-life source I don't know if it has the Renderer Option or not, since i'm not familiar with half-life source,
Though I looked it up online, and it seemed like they are mostly the same except for graphics, half-life source could be a little clearer maybe, that's all!.))
And if your device does not support <OpenGL or D3D> then I don't know if there is another solution.
I hope this solves it for you and for anyone who seeks an answer or solution for this problem.
