Half-Life: Source

Half-Life: Source

[SOLVED]GAME WILL NOT LAUNCH: Failed to load the launcher DLL The specific module could not be found
Okay, so I've just updated the game and immediatly began to launch the game; and play it only to have the error message (see title) appear. After going into C:Programfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common I could not find Half-Life Source anywhere but the deathmatch add-on. So I backed up my game files and deleted the local content whereby I re-installed the game. The same error message appears. Is this a common problem? Is there any known fix? Does the new update not support Windows 8 OS? If somebody could shed some light on the situation im facing, I would be most appriecative. Thank You.

you probably should download half life deathmatch source first since the deathmatch is bigger than half life:source

i dont understand what you did, your method was very vauge. and i know this is not part of the loading error, but is there a way to get out of the wide screen? i tried playing blue shift, harmless right? well the game play screen wasnt big enough so i thought i should try widescreen. BAD IDEA!! it zoomed in too much and i cant move around the options menu at all! any ideas?!
I cant open the game! ffffuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!
Right-click>Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Cache

If validating game cache did not work the first time, should I delete cache files first?

Validate the game cache on HL2 itself as well - that worked for me.

I validated Half-Life: Source and nothing changed.

After following this and validating Half-Life 2, it told me that one file was missing and will be recovered. I then launched Half-Life: Source and it worked.
