The game is great strategically but let down by a very non intuitive user interface that leaves you scratching your head and micro managing many things that could be less cumbersome. In a word Clunky U.I., don't let that put you off though it's really a work of art in terms of the actual game play and I found it quite challenging to win (from far behind the beginner AI) on my first try. Interesting game with some surprises.

It's an awesome game that combines space and planetary action. It is possible to gain orbital superiority, just for your troops to face an increased resistance on the ground from the swarming hordes sent by an AI. Fortunately, your spaceships can rain destruction upon the surface, helping your forces secure a foothold. You may also find yourself in the opposite situation where your victorious invading army is cut off after your spaceships are defeated by an enemy armada.

I've seen people complain about certain elements of the game, but they were never a problem for me. I learned everything intuitively and with little difficulty, even though I'm someone who still can't figure out the logistics system in the Shadow Empire game.

Surprisingly, there isn't that much micromanagement once you start playing, but I wish there were an option to create several units at once. It's boring to spend two turns building one unit, then return your attention to the matter at hand and order the spacesport to create another unit. If I have resources, let me use them!

Speaking of resources, managing them is relatively simple. The game has a wide array of tools to make your life easier if you hate micromanaging pointless stuff (you can turn on the universal warehouse and turn off food consumption). In short, it's nowhere near being too complicated, and the maps' icons help in finding the sweetest spots to maximize the production. Simple, not wholly idiotic, and yet logical enough.

Oldie but a goodie! Interface is a little clunky but this game is just as fun as it was when I was a kid!
