Freezes on black screen on startup (OSX)

I can't get the game to start on OSX 10.8.5 (mac pro 16 GB ram). All other steam games work fine. An identically configured machine next to me can run it fine. When I click to start, it briefly flashes a menu bar and then goes to a black screen that I can't close or shut down.

Is there a log file somewhere or some other diagnostic ability? I've run the "verify integrity of game cache" and everything looked fine.

At what resolution are you playing? We're aware of possible issues with resolutions above 1080p, please try starting the game in Full HD.

We'll do some testing on an iMac 27.

Got the issue fixed with deleting the local content and reinstalling.
