I'm one of those people who don't "do" social media, Reddit. X (formerly Twitter), Discord etc. so an official forum run by Andrew would help as I miss a lot of BS News. I'm also worried that people like me will not get a say in future updates as Andrew has said that any polls on future updates will be carried out on X. At the very least he needs to extend any polls to this forum.
The website as a whole is also heavily commercialized by advertisement and money spent to control information. Lots of botted content, subreddit moderation controlled by third parties trying to push ideologies etc. I would go as far to say that Reddit is probably the biggest powerhouse behind left wing culture war problematicism.
You will not find a single organic or original thoughts posted there.
Step 2. One less miserable thing taking up your time.
I know I've done my fair share of complaining and griping and there's a fair few threads here that generally cast a negative aspect on things, so the thought of somewhere being worse (and that place being Reddit lol, where being negative was a crime, I thought) is somewhat hard to imagine.
What sort of stuff are they upset about over there?
Now, I remember RS having a pretty terrible community back when I played it, but that was like 14 years ago. Surely that same community hasn't migrated and settled on Reddit or something, and have migrated again to Brighter Shores community as well, like an annoying Uncle who visits at Christmas nobody likes but you have to invite because family?
You should get off the platform for no reason other than that it removes people that don't politically agree with the current viral political opinion. That type of community curation can change the culture of a platform and in turn warp the minds of those that use the platform. You become what you see, hear, read, and are exposed to.
And that said you shouldn't be looking to only talk positive. That's not healthy for the game or you as a person. It's good for people to talk about ways the game could be better. It pushes the devs to consider player feedback and in the end create a better product.
Think about how you've grown as a person. I'm sure your parents, teachers, peers, coworkers, partners, and friends aren't always positive with you. Everyone needs negative feedback from the outside to shape them to become a better person.
It's the same for the game.
Reddit, is just a site that what ever you are looking for, there may be a forum, topic, to talk all about that one topic.
"You become what you see, hear, read, and are exposed to" what are you searching in reddit?
Reddit is one of the sites I use for information when I go travel. Reddit I like to read post to see what trend are going on that day, and the best one is wallstreetbetz, I see many here have that diamond hand on this game and that fine and all, but the game itself does need rework when it comes to combat. You agreeing to the current combat system is agreeing to RNG base damage instead of skill damage, that is one of the many issue that is wrong with this game.
Your not, it's called experience
How negative is Reddit being? I don't really want to go over there to find out. Discord and X as well? Are they just trashing the game without any semblance of constructive criticism or something? Surely not?
Don't want the devs to burn out, if all they see is just people crapping on the game. Feedback is important, but only when it is constructive!
They had a recent AMA over there so surely there must be some kind of community and not some cesspit whirlpool right?
I hope some day when the team get more established and the game is settled they'll take the time to invest in a good official Brighter Shores forum hosted on their website or something. It would be nice to be situated there, nice and snug. It could have some cool integration as well such as showing your characters + skill levels and other stuff too.
Maybe it could be a good leaving Early Access goal?
They're being pretty normal about the game, in all honesty. People here just freak way out over the slightest criticism and call it toxic.
Welcome to the internet, you new here? lol
cuckchan is neutered. there is no place to have actual discussion that doesn't descend into wanking.
