Fen Research: What Is Going On?
Ok, I don’t understand how things got this bad. Every time they promise an announcement, but nothing happens. Easter event? No details. Roadmap? Doesn’t exist. They say “soon” but soon never comes. Why even say anything if nothing is ready? Just be honest instead of giving false hope.

And now, Andrew is on holiday this week, and suddenly everything stops? How is this a real company? Why does the team seem unable to function without one person? No content for five months, players leaving every day, and instead of fixing the game, the developers go on vacation? The timing is insane.

Even the payment system is broken. People can’t subscribe, can’t cancel membership. This is a basic thing in any game.

And after all this time, what new content is there? Nothing. Combat rework didn’t change anything in a meaningful way. No real updates, no new reason to play. The game is just as empty as it was on release day.

Meanwhile, 2004scape, a project with zero funding, has 3-4 times more players than this game. How does that even happen? Both games are unfinished, but at least 2004scape isn’t misleading people. Brighter Shores has a full development team and is still failing. How?

Player morale is the lowest it’s ever been. Even the people who defended this game from the start are giving up. If the most dedicated highscore grinders are saying the game is doomed, then it’s over.

Fen Research is not running a game studio. They are running an experiment to see how long people will wait before they lose all hope.

Bro ofc 2004 scape is beating brighter shores the amount of content in that is like 10x compared to brighter shores because hundreds of people worked on that game, Andrew is only 1 person and can only do so much.

Brighter Shores has been worked on longer than 2004 RuneScape had been worked on. Brighter Shores has been in the works for going on a decade.
I can't wait for the runescape game that is coming soon. f this game. sad we can't cancel lol
also, don't you find it weird that they hired 5 people over the weekend after a 2 day notice?
No they had interviews last month. People usually start first of the month.

Nothing weird about that.

The creator of RuneScape probably wants to dissociate his name and image from this horrendous and lazily made game, which is a regression compared to what RuneScape once was. The same happened with Richard Garriott, who, after the visionary and ahead-of-its-time Ultima Online, only released mediocre games doomed to failure.

This may shock you, but this is an indie game made by a guy that has NEVER been good at speaking with his community. Paul was the more social one, and eventually neither one of them talked to RS players anymore as they had their hires take care of it.
