If there's no right click option available to kill a previous version of the cockroach, you probably need to finish the personal striping until you can access the cockroach that's closest to your level. You can just continue with whatever is best for your level.
Not sure if this is some oversight, first time I heard about this problem.
I know the combat system works differently to RS, very differently (sad!) but yeah I'm not 100% sure this is a bug or a problem, just some weirdness with the "striping" and how it applies to monsters locked behind quest areas.
I'm not sure I like how striping works, personally. From my perspective it seems like it just slowly levels up monsters and proceeds through Hopeport, Hopeforest, Mantuban Mines, Crenopolis before returning to Hopeport to repeat the cycle again and again and so on, but that seems dumb - shouldn't it be better if there's many level X monsters in each area so you can pick and choose and get some variety going?
I guess they have to do this because of the tier system they're using. Pfft.
What happens if your next monster is your kryptonite, like immune to your best elemental attack while dealing the elemental damage you're weak to? I guess you'd have to eat the XP penalty or something, or pad out your levels with KP until you break through?
I guess you'll have to fight cockroaches with reduced XP, or go and do something else and drop like 20 KP or so on combat until it reaches 56.
NewType is correct. I forgot about that. You should just be able to open the door by starting the quest from the Artificer/Jeweler guy. Then you have access to the wurms, and after you do the minecart puzzle to shades and slimes.
I hit this issue too, exactly. After asking around-- you just need to start a quest to unlock those mobs' area. I forget the name of the quest, but it was pretty simple once I found it.
