Problem with striping since combat merge
I have a problem with the combat striping since the merge. Ive recently started playing my guardian, I Am Alpharius, and am currently at the mines, following the main questline to get to Cren. I need 56 combat before i can mine the gnomic silver to give to the cyclops to allow me access, yet after lvl 50 cockroaches the mobs are unavailable, locked behind the deep mine area. Obviously I dont have access to that part of mines yet, so how am i supposed to kill wraiths and blobs? Do i just stay at cockroaches till 56 and swallow the penalties for easy targets?

Cockroach is lvl 50 for me. If they are not visible as lvl 50 for you, you probably have personal striping, because you bought premium recently, right?

If there's no right click option available to kill a previous version of the cockroach, you probably need to finish the personal striping until you can access the cockroach that's closest to your level. You can just continue with whatever is best for your level.

Not sure if this is some oversight, first time I heard about this problem.
You can start the Mantuban's Legacy quest to get access to that part of the mine. You don't need to finish the quest, just stop once you unlock the big door. There's a Portal Stone in that part of the mine as well.

Consider those Wraiths and Blobs a quest reward or something, I dunno. Like how you couldn't fight monkeys in RS until you met the requirements and had completed some of Monkey Madness, etc.

I know the combat system works differently to RS, very differently (sad!) but yeah I'm not 100% sure this is a bug or a problem, just some weirdness with the "striping" and how it applies to monsters locked behind quest areas.

I'm not sure I like how striping works, personally. From my perspective it seems like it just slowly levels up monsters and proceeds through Hopeport, Hopeforest, Mantuban Mines, Crenopolis before returning to Hopeport to repeat the cycle again and again and so on, but that seems dumb - shouldn't it be better if there's many level X monsters in each area so you can pick and choose and get some variety going?

I guess they have to do this because of the tier system they're using. Pfft.

What happens if your next monster is your kryptonite, like immune to your best elemental attack while dealing the elemental damage you're weak to? I guess you'd have to eat the XP penalty or something, or pad out your levels with KP until you break through?

I guess you'll have to fight cockroaches with reduced XP, or go and do something else and drop like 20 KP or so on combat until it reaches 56.

NewType is correct. I forgot about that. You should just be able to open the door by starting the quest from the Artificer/Jeweler guy. Then you have access to the wurms, and after you do the minecart puzzle to shades and slimes.

yeah i have to lvl up to 120 to kill the cockroach for the mine main quest in ep3 because i was lvl 100 and i had to get to lvl 100 to finish a quest in hope forest because the boss was lvl 100. the scaling is all weird now and it doesnt help that we dont have a skill tree or special attacks yet

I hit this issue too, exactly. After asking around-- you just need to start a quest to unlock those mobs' area. I forget the name of the quest, but it was pretty simple once I found it.
