Skills NEED to Benefit Player in Later Chapters
As title states, we need to be able to have skills be leveled up to benefit the player in later chapters, and allow later chapters to boon xp boost, or possible lateral unlocks, otherwise this game is only good if you are on the :weed:

They said they have plans for 21 episodes. I seriously doubt they’d make 80+ different skills - especially when they’re already getting pushback on combat and forager/gatherer being too similar.

Skill interplay between episodes and more endgame incentives are definitely on their plate, but yeah it’d be great to see more concrete plans than what responses we get in the AMAs.
They are called professions NOT skills.

They already do, or will do.

- woodcutter/carpenter (Ep 2) provides materials for weapon making (Ep 3)
- alchemy (Ep 1) provides potions for all episodes
- gatherer (Ep 2) is required for Alchemy (Ep 1) and weapon making (Ep 3)
- leather working (Ep 4) will provide materials for armour making in Ep 5

Only cooking (Ep 1), fishing (Ep 1), detective (Ep 4) and merchant (Ep 4) do not currently have uses outside of their episodes, however this may well change as the game developes.

I think they mean future episodes that reuse old professions in new ways. That way, all that time you spent on like, Cooking, isn’t completely useless outside of making money and completing episode 1 quests.

There's really pretty trees in the Hopeport barracks. I long to cut them down with my axe.

However by some cruel twist of fate, I cannot do so.

This is a travesty of justice if there ever was one. No tree should be purely "decorative".

No you don't understand I NEED to be able to catch stonefish in the Mantuban Mines using Fishing from Hopeport and I NEED to be able to etch this stonefish with the T.E.A Machine and I NEED to be able to craft this etched stonefish into special fishy armour for Hammermages which NEEDS to buff my Fishing capabilities elsewhere in the world somehow.

I am deadly serious about this too. Stonefish :imcute:

I agree, but quest issues/items/hot spots are not included in that I hope?!
Are you also a person with affinity for DIY, entity Greb??

Edit: We should not under any circumstance be allowed to have TNT

More ppl should ask for FAQ and Info stickies (pinned) at the root of this forum

I will have to look ar that...
They've admitted the profession integration is hot trash and something that needs to be looked into. Right now in its current form it's little more than a nuisance. Instead of being "Oh cool I can use this profession to boost this other profession" it's more like "OK so now I need to stop doing this profession because it requires this other profession"

Worst offender of this is the Chicken and Leek Pie requiring a really high level Gatherer level to make ONE single recipe. Yeah, most people either just skip it when it shows up on the bounty board or just eats the loss of buying the leek with its massive mark-up. You're not rewarded for having leveled up your Gatherer, you're punished for not having it.

Alchemy is almost as bad in this regard: at first you're expected to use Forager to get it up, so you'll have lots of Forager levels. Then after 200 it starts asking you for 200+ Gatherer materials which of course you won't have the levels for because it never expected them from you up to this point. You're given the choice of starting over Foraging essentially from level 1 or just buying the materials to finish your Alchemy training; neither choice feels satisfying.

It's not like they don't know how to do it properly: Basically all of the P2P professions seem to understand the assignment, either setting the expectation from the get-go that it's going to be requiring another region's profession, or offering benefits to other professions without making them hard requirements in the process. Combat and merchant still feels complete even without weapon crafting and crime den shortcuts, they're just nice to have.

Who in the world is ignoring the bounty when you can just buy the leeks from Kevin?

Some players like to focus quite narrow, other like that things are as connected as possible, we can have both, yes? This core team has a history of making this possible on many levels. It did take time though.

I've been looking and thinking, and I think as for now, most of the game are place-holders for what is to come, and one thing to come is cross-platform bc the menu's and points of clicking fits touch-screen far more than it fits keyboard and mouse.
