Is this game worth to play?
It seems like the number of players has dropped dramatically

Will it be more fun than Runescape 3?

This is a question that can't honestly be answered by anyone else but yourself. Everyone has their own thoughts on the game, and if you play it a while, you'll have your own as well. Best i can say, without deterring towards any comparisons in any way, is try the game for yourself and come up with your own answer because in this discussion forum, you may actually get more negative nancy responses than anything else.

The game is high quality with a lot of care put into it, however it's very barebones at the moment and it leaves you wanting more. At the moment I can't say with 100% certainty that they'll keep serving more, and often, though. I hope they will. The devs chucked out a lot of QoL updates after community feedback though and seem receptive for even more. I'm just waiting to see the content they add and how often it comes in before fully making my mind up, though.

I'd say it's worth trying it out, sure. Player count has dropped, for a variety of reasons I am sure people will be happy to talk about, but it has also remained fairly stable recently at like 2000 or so, so it's not like it has just completely flatlined. I think when there's more to do, more reasons to invest your time etc, the game will pick up.

It’s early days. The game is still on early access, so it’s missing features, reworks, balancing, etc.

It’s a small download though and the first two episodes are free. There’s nothing in the paid content that you aren’t going to be able to experience (in a similar fashion) from the free content. Give it a try!

You'll find out with the first 10 minutes if it's going to be a game you enjoy.

It's inherently better than RS3 because there are no microtransactions. Yeah, the player count has dropped off, but that happens to literally all MMOs post-launch. The player count has stabilized, which is important. The only MMO of the past 15 years that has grown considerably after launch is FF 14 and that is only after they completely revamped the game at a great financial cost and got a couple of expansions under their belt.

There are a lot of people that complain about grinding, but they don't seem to realize that grinding is INTENTIONALLY the majority of the content and will ALWAYS be so, very much like RuneScape itself. Yes there are some quests and I love questing, but it took RuneScape 22 (23 next month) years to get the number of quests it has currently and the rate at which Jagex release new quests is abysmally slow and has been for many years. Hopefully new quests come out faster in Brighter Shores, but only time will tell. If you don't like grinding, you won't like this game. If you like seeing numbers go up and some animations to go with it, you will like this game. This is not a game that requires skill to play. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some clicking to do in Brighter Shores.

I have around 150 hours in Brighter Shores and I continue to enjoy the experience. That isn't "copium", it's simply me liking something that you don't. You can continue to enjoy your MTX-riddled game.

If you are looking for this to be like RuneScape or OSRS you are just going to burn yourself. It is very much in the same style of RuneScape but relies much more heavily on the grind. Even PvM feels more like another grind than PvM in either game. That said im loving the game and I come back to it daily.

In terms of the player count yeah its fallen off from its peak mainly because once you finish everything in the main story through Crenopolis there isn't much to do other than make number go up. Once Episode 5 comes out you will probably see a massive spike in players again.

Thank you all for your replies:happy_creep:; I’ll give it a try.

I am indeed looking for a substitute similar to RS3 because I don’t have friends to play with and find it difficult to participate in late-game boss fights. As for OSRS, it’s just a matter of the graphics.

honestly not really. i have played it a lot but im over it at this point. its just an endless grindfest for the sake of grinding. You cant even grind how you want because they penalize old methods to the point they aren't worth doing..

Yeah it sucks that cutting level 1 trees is worthless when you can cut higher level trees, unlike RuneScape where you totally can get a ton of XP from level 1 trees even near max level! Oh wait...

As for grinding for the sake of grinding, yes indeed. That is the appeal of the game, just like RuneScape.

Except you still get the same amount of experience for cutting said tree that you got at level 1, it's just that you need way more xp to level up. this system is also in brighter shores (each level takes more xp to level than the last) except you can't grind a lower xp method as they nerf the xp you get as well..

The nerf there is actually an anti-bot mechanic that has been used (albeit, outdated and still useless) in games for 1-2 decades now. It's main purpose is really to just deter people away from botting low levels on a constant non-stop run for the easiest XP.

Well this "outdated and still useless" mechanic just cost them a paying customer.
