After the event ends, what are we going to do with all the extra hats? I have multiple sets already. Trading for another hat is pointless at this point.

Pretty much says it all. I don’t think the extras should disappear, out of consideration for the uh… “special” players out there who collected multiples of specific hats purely for the sake of collecting, but they should never be tradable again after this event.

This is not a party hat situation, and greedy ***** who collected like, red Santa hats, in preparation for a chance to make big money later should not be rewarded for their greed. That’s not what Christmas is supposed to be about.

I agree with this. Which is why i said I'd laugh if they did a surprise deletion of the excess hats after the event ends. Simply because of the people that are hoarding extras in their high hopes of an RS relapse to profit, just to get their hopes crushed.

I also agree that that isn't what Christmas is about! It's about family, food, Jesus ((for those that go that route, no offense to those that do) and the typical holiday gimmicks of corporation that take advantage of people to garnish their hard earned money for their own greed (kind of like the above mentioned hoarders)) by labeling stuff as "on sale" when the products are actually the same every other day price before the holiday!

I think they should make it so that they are still swapable for other XMAS24 hats, so if you have some duplicates and are missing a few, you can still swap for them after the event. I also think it would be cool if we could trade our duplicates in for extra XP or a knowledge point.

You have 800 hats and there is only 2000 players with their own hats. Hats will never be rare and hold no value.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've always liked the idea of tradeable discontinued items that become valuable over time. Maybe these hats become valuable, maybe they don't but anyways they should be tradeable once we actually get trading in the game, otherwise they will become useless piece of trash that nobody remembers.

Sorry to disappont you guys collecting hats in the hope they will become tradeable rares like party hats in RS but Andrew has said many times that RS party hats were a mistake and that the Xmas hats will NEVER be tradeable after the event.

He said they will cease being collectable within the context of the event ending early January. He actually didn't say they will never be tradable.

Making them become tradable after stating multiple times that they will not be tradable is a good way to piss your community off and ruin good faith.

The real question is, will we be able to swap hats with other players after? 2024 christmas hats for other 2024 christmas hats? That hasn't been stated.

I get kind of annoyed how many people want these hats to be tradable, when they would be worthless for 5-10+ years lol. I feel people just want to feel like the next Einstein and be like "ahh, I am so smart to have saved these". How about no?

Collectable =/= Tradeable

The hats are collectable during the event and will cease to be so afterwards, however they are also tradeable and interestingly a trading system was added exclusively for these hats pre-implementation of the anticipated p2p trading system.

Seems pretty unambiguous to me, but even if you want to try the logic of collect =/= trade, we still have the second half:

How would someone use the hats to prove they were there during the first event if the hats become tradable?

They could change their minds, but as of right now the language doesn't leave nearly as much room for interpretation as you think it does.
