FOMO in Early Access? Are you serious?
Really? Nobody wants FOMO bs. My enjoyment for a game goes down significantly if I feel I have to attend and play every single event for fear of missing out of rewards I'll never be able to get again.

Why are we starting FOMO holiday events already?? Really disappointing, just focus on finishing the game.

All they need to do is make it a reoccurring event every year. Literally nobody loses out from this, except nerds who are weirdly attached to having something that others don't and never can have, which frankly should not be encouraged.

Nobody is saying make these hats the ONLY event they ever do. They're just saying don't make any of these seasonal events a one-and-done thing. How is that hard to understand?

Don't want hats flying into your inventory in 2025 or you're worried they'll clog up the event? Then add an NPC or something somewhere that lets you enable or disable the ability to collect more hats. Done!

There's zero actually decent, non-scumbag reasons to support discontinuing any item. At all. If you can only find self worth in your account because you have something that someone else does not (and cannot ever earn) then you need to readjust your way of thinking, lol. You should be taking pride in the fact you're fit to bursting with 500s that you earned before the game was "cool", that you were among the first to play the game and you never quit no matter what, or that you've never cancelled your premium membership for eleventy hundred weeks, that you've been "maxed" for so long you're keeping up with the updates whereas new players have to climb several mountains that you've already climbed, or whatever else. Those are "noble" things to take pride in.

Taking pride in the fact you have a hat someone else can never get is pathetic.

If the devs truly wanted to let players show off the fact they "woz ere 2K24" then they should add some other generic thing without tapping into regular seasonal event stuff. At least that wouldn't feel so terrible for new players PLUS it would actually be something special.

Pfft. I can't believe people actually defend this stuff. It's not even the FOMO aspect that bothers me - the whole "oh no, I must play RIGHT NOW!!!" stuff? That's down to the individual. It's just the fact this game isn't even two months old and we're already seeing discontinued stuff being added to the game. Christ.

You can literally log in and play for 1 day and get the whole set, hell you can play for 5 minutes and get a hat.
Can players a year from now get one of these hats by playing for 5 minutes? No? So, less content for new players to achieve and be rewarded with?
Swamp 14/dez./2024 às 23:01
If you want to really get in to it, having highscores is "FOMO" by your definition.

EXPERIENCE would be FOMO.

GOLD would be FOMO.

So like, is gold fomo now? There's a "FEAR OF MISSING OUT" from playing earlier and earning more gold, is that what you're saying?

Yes = Okay in-game currency = fomo you're right *eyeroll*

No = Exactly, play early get more gold for playing sooner. No different than special items now again stfu and admit there is no fomo (of this deal) cuz there is no deal just play the game.

Should players that have played for 5 minutes have the same benefits of players that have played for years?

EDIT: Also yes if we're allowed to actually trade them. They can get one if they pay for it ;) If don't want them tradeable then no, they shoulda played and got the untradeable holiday items when it was around. Why should scrubs that don't support the game be able to act like they supported the game from the start?

Now you're just devaluing MY time effort and (potentially) money.

Nah I'm good, ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥ they weren't here from the start. If they want to pretend to then they need to grind their asses off and pay me for it otherwise nah, I'll keep my dozen entire sets of holiday items for myself whilst collecting all other items myself in the future.

Levels can always be earned. Gold can always be earned. Imagine if you could only reach level 500 in professions for the first year they're released, and after that you could never reach level 500 again? If you didn't make it within the first year, sucks to suck, you don't get that anymore.

Look at OSRS. It has none of this. The only thing it has even remotely similar to this are the Leagues trophies, and there's a new Leagues every year, so every year all players have an equal opportunity to earn whatever tier of trophy they want.

Imagine getting 500 in a skill and then 5 minutes after creating an account you get 500 in said skill a year or two later.

Yeah no sorry not sorry it does suck to suck I reckon. Let them suck for a couple of weeks and cringe from not being here through all the EA BS and only coming when the game was good and easy.

So where do we draw the line then? It's okay to have 5 minute long, zero-effort things be limited time, never able to be unlocked again? What about things that take an hour? Two hours? A few days, a week?

You better hope it stays as low effort as this Christmas event is. Better hope it doesn't escalate into them wanting you to grind the game super hard for something that's limited time, over fear of. y'know. missing out

We all have lots of dupes, they will all have their chance to obtain said items if tradeable (which tbh they will be with all of the dupes, trust trading or not) and then well, makes all of what you say moot then.

I'll trade your OG hat for your scrub hat if you buy my lvl 1 logs for 1g each. Want my hat? Buy the logs first, you want the hat more than I need the gold cuz *gasp* I've been playing longer and already have plenty of gold.

Yes, plenty will et scammed, that's why they should either be tradeable directly for gold (why else would we have dupes?) or completely untradeable in which case even more reason to keep them that way. Why should a 5 min player be able to have access to items the same as a several years long player?
Sterlander 14/dez./2024 às 23:16
OSRS is nice. I've been playing on my account for almost 10 years now. I've taken 1-2 year long breaks from it. And guess what? I come back, and my account is exactly as I left it. My goals are all still there, everything I wanted to earn is still there. And there's even new stuff to earn and work towards!

I don't sign into OSRS and go "aw. I missed a bunch of ♥♥♥♥"

We draw the line at keeping them unobtainable after the event like they are; tradeable for those that want them like people want, and then go about our day like I said.

Yes, 5 minute never-again things are fine when they're like a month long. If you can't/won't log in for 5 minutes out of 43,200 (1 month) then no, you don't deserve it. Even better how it is now when you can obtain unlimited multiples to trade to future players that want them so that *gasp* they cannnnn actually obtain them..?

I don't hope for anything, the game will be what the game will be. If I miss out on an event then well ♥♥♥♥, it's my fault for not logging in for 5 minutes to get my own item ain't it?

Pardon me if this sounds rude but this kinda just comes off as sucker behavior? The devs are making you be a sucker to their limited time BS. Instead of having permanent content that's always in the game for you to earn, they want you to login on a frequent basis and claim what is essentially login bonuses. Doesn't that makes you their sucker?

OSRS sucks, it's mostly bots with absolutely nothing to actually work towards and a sprinkle of PvP wannabes that either no/low risk or telly after spec failed. Only reason it has done well is because it's easy af and RS3 shields it from being heavily monetized.

Your goals are still there but if you wanna get fr, OSRS is EZscape compared to actual RS2. Lemme just play for 5 mins and get 10b to buy skills and gear...

Owait, lol I can!

So true, OSRS is EZscape. I think I'll play Brighter Shores instead, where I can login every couple months for holiday hats and go right back to passive training literally all my skills. You have a fine taste in hardcore mmo's, I tip my hat to you sir!

Oof, sorry if this sounds rude but maybe you don't realize the game is in Early Access? The devs are acknowledging the game needs tweaks and improvements and are doing so due to feedback. Instead of having content that anyone can complete in 5 minutes in spite of wanting to take years (which failed already, devs underestimated current MMO players), they want you to actually play at least a couple of weeks/months and claim what is essentially *more* than just login bonuses and handing everything to new players for free because as we all know; that just burns players out? Whilst also rewarding initial supporters of said game for sticking around even if they're not actually supporting/paying to play? Doesn't that make you a zoomer for not wanting to play a game for longer than 5 minutes?

Fine with me, even on osrs/rs3/many other mmo's players do the same thing and have fun enjoying it. Especially when said items are yaknow, actually exclusive and not given out every single time which would "apparently" be the only reason you would log in. guess you'd have no reason to even log in anymore then would you?

Mhm, it is in early access, which is why we have to nip problems like this in the bud before they think its okay to keep doing. But instead of criticizing the game, you're being all elitist and defending it to your dying breath for literally no reason. Grow a spine and actually critique the games you like, lol.
