How's this compare to OSRS ?
Seems like this game has 10x more players on steam right now which is interesting.

Does this game revive the magic of RuneScape in a new game ? Or is it nothing like the original game from this dev ?

what a bunch of nonsense. There are bots, yes, but not nearly as many as some people like you claim

but you are free to believe whatever you want

Basically, Imagine that Andrew Gower didn't learn anything from Runescape, tried to fix a ton of "issues" with RPG's by making baffling design decisions...

The result?... A game that has the worst parts of Runescape but 3 times worse, and none of the good from Runescape made it in because he tried too hard to make the game as different as possible from Runescape

Those same types say the same about Team Fortress 2 as well

Why not just try it? It’s f2p why you need ppls opinions before opening a game to try it yourself??? lol

Because time is the most valuable resource nowadays, perhaps that's the reason. Also, I had to play like 70 hours to realize the game wanst worth it at this point.

"Seems like this game has 10x more players on steam right now which is interesting."? The game brighter shores is below 10k and it came from 20k to be fair, how can it have 10X more players? Not gonna use the word "dying" but lets just wait & see what happens :D

This is a fun and cool relaxing game for like 50 hours. I reached total level 400.

Then you hit a mark where you don't feel like you're making any progress, because their's nothing to aim for.

No raids, no dungeons
Combat is the exact same no matter your level, just reskinned npcs.
No mechanics to keep you involved
Skills feel afk but not afkable

Smithing is basically 3 skills; one to make weapons for each classes (once again feels pointless)
Some skills are the exact same but with different name (gathering for exemple).

That said since there's nothing to work for (except skill capes, i guess?) i could see this game struggle hard to retain a playerbase.
It's kinda hawt garbage currently.

REALLY needs a combat overhaul

Yeah i do not like the fact that combat as a whole is just one skill like any other. I don´t like this at all. I would like to see the oversimplified combat skill detached from the simplistic skill roster and made more complex.

It's like 2006 RS with better graphics, animations and a lack of all the developments that came after. There's a bit of RSC in it too. Not much Afk-able stuff, a bit of Melvor Idle in it and it has a couple of quite innovative bits in Ep 4: Crenopolis.

It's quite intensive because you can't get multiple logs from trees for example, but is is fun and well-made; not a bug in sight.

Depending on when you first started playing OSRS/RS2 you might want to jump in now and you'll recognise a lot or leave it until it's a bit more polished. Developmentally, OSRS has far more people, far more time and far more money spent on it but this is solid and does have a massive amount of potential. They might need to hire a couple more staff at some point, even, as the group of people doing the developing is very small currently.

Maybe they can pinch Mod Ash? :P

it has potential, but who it would be for and how it wants to keep players as an MMO.
I do wonder if the world could work with "user generated content" and have some other goals/usage (so long its not a mess or unbalanced). and if there will be skills that aren't based on the same grind.

but its nice to hear that the VIP/members (only?) content got some other things going for it, by how that sounded above.

i think we are living in a world where games are getting rotten tomatoes thrown at them as it gets views on youtube.... I find this game fun and to me that makes the game good, the comments on this thread point to a bunch of people who haven't played.

The problem is that opinions change over time, you cant have a proper opinion with 6 hours played.

i personally disliked the game heavily for the first 1-3 hours, then i got into it and actually liked it.
then after 30 hours it started to become more boring again. and 50 hours in i think that playing it in the first place wasnt a good choice. I dont even think anymore that the game has any potential because runescape exists.

I know that humans are emotional creatures and form their opinion in the moment without looking too far into the future, but this is a problem.
Despite some people always being positive about games, especially when they didnt play it much, that doesnt save a game from dying out because it is simply bad

you are writing this comment, even though you dont know yet if you will be insanely bored from it in another 10 or 20 hours already

it has nothing to do with throwing rotten tomatoes being the popular thing to do
