Drop and crafted weapons rarity malus as you level
Based on personal experience and limited testing I noticed that as your level climbs higher rarity chances get lower and lower, This is true for both crafted and non crafted weapons and armor becoming especially noticeable at the level 20 mark. I believe it is affecting not just rarity but drop rates for combat acquired gear as well.

Some quick numbers below nothing super definitive but the difference is far too great to be ignored in my opinion unless it was some crazy fluke. I have to beleive it is a glitch or intentional as a way to gate progress for early access.

Crafted Gear:
Level 37 crafting level 37 Metal Buckler 24 crafts
2 Rare
5 Uncommon
17 Common

Level 37 crafting level 0 Metal Buckler 18 Crafts
5 Rare
9 Uncommon
4 Common
Stopped here as this made sense that a higher level toon would get better pools from lower level crafts

Level 13-16 crafting level 13-16 Javelins 24 Crafts
6 Rare
12 Uncommon
6 Common

The craft pools were very similar between a level 13 crafting for their max potential and a level 37 crating for level 0 indicating to me that there is something happening at the 20 mark when rolling gear seemingly with flat values rather than weighted ones and could be the source of some of the combat frustrations for unluckier players as they get higher.

Can I ask how you tested this? Most of your post mentions crafting, but you also say it's true for drops, drops being the part I'm referring to

As far as I can tell each monster has different drop tables, some seeming to be much more likely to drop good gear. As an example, a friend of mine fought Bears for a few hours, didn't get a single purple. Yet as soon as he moved on to another monster, he got multiple purples at a decent speed. Could be a coincidence, but I've heard similar from others

A real test would have to fight a low level version of X mob for a few hours, and then fight a high level version of that same mob for a few hours to get a rough idea. Obviously small sample size still, but would be better than comparing Goblins to Crows

Was mostly crafting. I did say the testing was limited mostly an observation and noticed it pre 20 for combat skills. Getting all uncommon pre 20 was easy enough to do and had full set with normal leveling almost full sets between each mob except when I was leveling every other mob obviously. Post 20 I was having to stay on mobs past their expiration if I wanted more than 2 or 3 pieces. Didn't document it so is just an observation from myself.

I just wanted to bring it up and have folks pool their own experiences maybe I really am just that unlucky but I had the same experience for each combat stat is what made me doubt it was a fluke and I just had bad luck getting from 20 to 30... 4 times.

TBH im not going to spend hours of documenting in excel for something that is likely just a gate or a typical hook to get players addicted. I know there are folks that enjoy that kind of stuff but that's not me.

Yeah that's fair, I was just curious if you had actual stats, similar to the ones you posted with crafting

also in addition, u cant really count on 24 crafts, u could just get unlucky 15 crafts etc, come again when u tested it with 2000 crafts each :P

You could always provide some of those but I guess its easier to say that 24 isn't enough and someone else should do 2000 rather than do 24 yourself and actually contribute.

Also could point out the controls aren't there since it was different weapons at different levels.

But again either make a couple rapiers and provide something rather than telling me 24 isn't enough like its some sage advice.

I did a lot more than 24 to get to level 38 smithing the 24 is just what I documented.
I've noticed this as well, after level 20, your "luck" drops off or the "newbie buff" expires. 2-3 hours of combat, nothing but base rarity.
