Combat & Skills, Do They Have A Purpose?
It seems like Fishing can be used to lvl up Cooking, and Apothecary is useful for making potions (but u can buy them anyway instead, filler for a future Grand Exchange i assume).

Basically other than making potions, does any skill have a purpose other than quests?

Also what's the point in combat other than PvP, i was hyped on the thought of combat progression being similar to any other MMORPG where you get the best weapons at higher levels n stuff, reach a certain lvl to kill bosses etc.
But the combat seems to just be another skill where everything scales as you lvl up, it's just a grind with no meaning or reward?

Basically i'm starting to get worried that this entire game is just a pure grind with no meaning behind any skills or anything. I'm still going to play because it's early access and i assume there will be major improvements and updates etc (Like how the original Runescape was barely even 3D on launch).

But does anybody know if i'm totally wrong and the end game has meaning for the stats + combat? (Oh also i'm in Episode 2 atm, need to reach total lvl 151 to progress to episode 3)

From the answers i got here, combat serves no real purpose other than getting your crafting skills higher...which sucks,if youre not planning on being a trader.

Its a neverending grind-reset-grind-reset circle with no real meaning it seems.
Or rather than,,reset'',youre supposed to start doing the exact same thing over and over again with no endgame.

Then what happens after the final chapter?

If we are lucky:

After the last chapter,no more wipes and every combat role will give you permanent boosts everywhere, for leveling them up.

If we arent lucky:

They just make more episodes and this repeats forever.

I think the most likely scenario is we start seeing professions share between new episode zones or see a lot of current zones expand. I can't imagine each additional episode will always have 4 brand new professions.

Another thing that i was hoping for, was special items from combat, like a 1/100 chance of getting a named item which is special. But it seems like it's just a chance of any item dropping with randomised rarity and stats.
Guessing there's no info out there from Andrew Gower about the future of the game? Just seems like one of those Idler games but u play it actively atm.

Anyway imma keep on coping and playing the game >.< Surely it will be like that in the future after EA right, since this is early access.

Guard has been increasing my max hp, max hit and seems to affect defence in combat. The stats are mostly tied to gear, but not entirely. :2016bee:
