The devs don't have any control over that though. And version 5.0 does address your issues becuase it's 64bit.
yeah, should I refund v4.0 and wait for 5.0 if v5.0 is a new full price game? I mean I just bought it because there is a discount. I am not playing the game at the moment.
but, i tell you. i joined an HO model railroad club here in porkland, home of the justin timberlakes soccer team. and, there was a 5 track loop track where you could do long haul railroading. And, i ran out my 0-8-0, nicely weathered locomotive and its 1940's consist, just running along being a train. and, the director of the club and all got pissed at me for running so slow -- they had their sd 70's and all screaming down the track. it was pretty embarrassing... like, they were kids running a slot-car race. old guys, like me, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and 'just wanna have fun'. no sense of immersion or history. And, i have to suppose that most of the gamers playing these railroad games are just like these valley boys... just toot'n and drivin' and not really caring what they're hauling and why the stuff is there to haul at all. My problem seems to come from the reality that the DEVS always need to make a commercially viable product, but don't really understand how to build a market beyond just first-person-choo-choo. Modding always saves this kind of game. i doubt this game will ever be open for modding. even if '5' is the final version.
While I no longer work for Degica I do own 5.0. I bought it on import a few months ago direct from Japan.
Including customs and P&P the game cost almost $100 US with Yen conversions as they are today.
There are some graphical improvements. Not in the textures as far as I can tell, but in the post processing. The game is smoother and there are a few extras (double headers being the most prominent)
However, the core gameplay is pretty much the same. After a couple of hours tinkering with the new features there is very little that differentiates 5 from 4 in my opinion. Of course your value may vary.
It's a solid game and if you don't not own any A-Train 9 game then - if you can afford it and are prepared to wait for delivery from Japan - this is the one to get.
If you already own 4 I would call the upgrade a marginal value call. At least from where I'm sat
I have no idea if Degica are going to release this regionalised on Steam. I'm not even sure whether there is still a partnership between Degica and Artdink
I have not spoken to anyone in the Degica offices about any A-Train for over 2 years. My last few emails to them have not been answered and in fact a few months ago they closed by Degica domain email account without warning I no longer have acccess tot he website or Blog - which is unfortunate as my (now defunct) email address is still the one that enquiries are sent to from that website. Effectively your contact emails are now they are either stored in the back end of the website's CMS - or have gone for good.
I worked freelance for Degica for a couple of years and thought we had a very good working relationship - I'm not sure why the "radio silence" happened or what it signifies.
As a lover of A-Train and owner of every A-train game there is (including several not released officially in the West) I'm as baffled and perturbed as some of you guys clearly are.
However I am making efforts to get in touch with them via other channels and if I get news I will pass it on here.
If you are wondering why I still have developer status on this forum? I don't know. I assumed it had been removed some time ago but apparently it hasn't.
I would contact them regarding upgrades to v5.0
