Do the achievements work?

I see some reviews/posts saying that the achievements don't work, is this true? I love hunting achievements in the games I play so I'm just curious.

Play the first run for a while, then restart from beginning (play 2nd round) should work.

Well, I've got 100% so I'm inclined to say, "Yes, they do work." Now maybe they bug out if you try to do the entire game in one sitting, but there's no issue with saving/loading breaking anything,
