Early game help

I just stat playing, fully explored the first 2 locations. I am overwhelmed with scrap and fabric (~15 full stacks total). I need pipes so bad for upgrades and just wondering, is there any way to craft pipes from scrap, or something like that, or I am forced to discard them? Also I can't figure out how to use (install) weapon components like scopes or silencers.
If you have any tips for a new player, feel free to share. Thank you!

1. No, you can't craft pipes from scrap, for now.
2. Some weapons have limitations in terms of modifications, for example the basic weapons have only 1 slot for mod while the other gun have 3 or more slots. If you mean HOW to equip the, just click on the modification and then you see the "+" button pres on it and here is your mod on your gun.
