Check again the 3rd screenshot there is a human girl right in the middle of the screen

tl;dr There are two other games before this, Bad2Bad Delta, and Bad2Bad Extinction. Bad2Bad delta was a side scrolling shooter game where it was just animals versus animals, no zombies at all. You're a military force fighting against terrorists. At the end of the game, you find out the terrorists were supplied by what they call the "Tailless Legion" that no one knew about, which is a nation of humans that want to wipe out all of the animal people. The Tailless Legion loses the war against the animals, and in a last ditch effort they engineer a virus that only affects the animals turning them into zombies. Bad2Bad extinction plays a lot like apocalypse, with the exception being that you fly to a zone and it randomly generates a map, once you leave you can't come back. It takes place before the apocalypse where you're flying around trying to save specific cities and towns and stuff while also taking out enemy forces, the main enemy here is still mostly Tailless Legion. At the end of that, the animals actually lose the war, the world falls into apocalyptic state, and bad2bad apocalypse starts.

... There is surprisingly more lore than I thought there would be for a mobile game.
