Controller Incompatibility - JoytoKey Using a Logitech Precision (< > ^ v keys not registering)
Was curious if there was a particular reason for the movement inputs not registering with this particular controller (imagine a PS1 controller with only a D-pad).

Though I am capable of registering all the other inputs without any issue using JoytoKey, only the D-pad inputs fail to register.

If anyone has had success using a controller that uses only a D-pad with no analog sticks, I'd appreciate the configuration you used for the directional inputs.

I know it's been a while, but I figured a workaround to get JoytoKey to replicate the dpad and figured it might help someone out still. Go to the game config and switch the keyboard up/down/left/right controls to IJKL, then go to JoytoKey and do the same. Curiously, the game won't take arrow key inputs in this way but if you switch it to just letters it'll work just fine.

Thanks for the info, I had the same problem and that worked for me.

I would never have thought of trying that; there's no reason why some keys would work but others wouldn't.

I got my Madcatz Arcade stick to work by going to Steam Big Picture mode, then Settings -> Controller, and assigning the buttons via the steam menu. Even if you don't use the big picture mode, the game starts recognizing the controller as a Xbox pad

Didn't know that was a thing. I might try that next time I try to play a game and I'm having controller issues, though in general Joy2Key has been good to me.

I hope it doesn't default to thinking your controller is an XBox controller... some games show the actual buttons in-game and, if I recall, XBox controllers have the colors on the wrong buttons and it's really irritating.

I was surprised the xbox 360 controller worked out of the box, nothing needed to do but fix my way of thinking.. had to use B instead of A to select thing.. just finished game, everything worked great using controller no keyboard was needed :)

It might be a bit old to reply, but here's what I got from fiddling around a bit:
The game will completely refuse both analogs and the d-pad from emulating arrow keys. Since all the other keys worked the solution here is to set the directions as IJKL and then change the controls ingame to move with those keys. After that is done everything should work smoothly.
If you can't get j2k to show you your d-pad as a configurable look at the tabs on the right side of the window, select "Other" and then check the box that says "Use POV switches", your d-pad will be POV1.
Happy gaming!
