I so badly want to get this game but it looks like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROM
Are there any fixes for this? I would love to buy the whole series but it's so pixelated from the pictures I've seen/gameplay footage I've watched my eyes couldn't handle it :(

You guys are right. I started in the wrong order, with Shantae Half Genie Hero and spoiled it for myself because that game is beautiful.
I'd never heard of the series but being a HUGE Wonderboy III fan this looked right up my alley and once my eyeballs adjusted it's great :)

The pixilated effect is reduced if you play it on a smaller screen. Maybe try it on one of those portable dvd or blue ray players that have a screen between 5 and 8 inches on the diagonal.

Thanks for the advice but I had already figured that. As I said, I was spoiled by Half Genie Hero, I have since made my way past the pixel gripe and have found a great platformer.

Well, you could still buy it either way. If you really aren't satisfied with the quality of Risky's Revenge, I'd like to suggest you get it when it's on sale. It's the cheapest out of all the other three that's currently on Steam.

The pixels are merely the animation style. It isn't pixelated as in blurry. It's actually very smooth/clear/whatever people say these days. I hope this helps.

I have already resolved my issues with pixels long ago, I appreciate the offers of help,

honestly this game looked like a turn off at first because of the graphics but trust me its a very good game (In my opinion)

Reshade can help you. Using HDR4x, you can make the game way less pixelated.

There's also blur filters (but I don't like them ) and CRT filters (those are fine, since they simulate the old CRT TVs).

With HQ4X:

There is a easy to use mod which uses reshade to get a nice CRT effect. I agree I hate the normal look totally. I might as well just play the DS version in retroarch with my tuned CRT easy mode filter I guess? IDK, but even with a CRT filter from reshade I can't tweak any parameters easily or anything. But the mod offered here is not that bad.
