I doubt selling a significantly reduced experience only to get negative reviews because it's not the intended one to be good for business either.
There is a non-VR Stranger Things game on steam, I would suggest checking out that instead.
When developers make a game for both flatscreen and VR, I tend to worry that they developed the game primarily with flatscreen players in mind and just tacked on VR support later as an afterthought.
So I think it's good there are companies making games like this that cater exclusively to VR gamers. If the flatscreen people want to play it they just need to buy a VR headset.
