I am I unable to move icons. Thus if I wan to add forward arrow to the beginning, I have erase every icon and start over. Am I missing something?

the current scoring makes no sense, you basically get best score if you get a working code on your first try.. you just have to find a working code, then go to the level menu, start the level again, use that code and full score! instead, you should score on how optimized the code is, like, how much energy is left unused after accomplishing the task, encourage clever solutions rather than trial and error and reload...

What is the target age group? I feel that there's too much text for younger children. I think that the first few levels should be much easier: L1 just walk forward 4 times, L2 walk and repair 3 squares, L3 the current L1. The interface needs better explaining, add an interactive tutorial for L1 showing which buttons to press to get the level running. I would split the chapters into 5 regular levels and 2 challenge levels, and after finishing the 5 easy levels, both challenges and the next chapter unlock...
