How to fix crashes with Praetorians in Steam
Hi folks,

I have seen many users having issues with Praetorians in Steam. Users are reporting some crashes and weird behaviors. This is happening cause Steam is providing the compilation of the game with version 1.04, when in fact the latest version is 1.05.

To try to help all users to fix those issues, we have created a documment to explain how to install Mod Complex 2.0. This is an extension of Praetorians created by Praetorians community that brings the latest compilation of the game (version 1.05) and provides a lot new features:

- Support for Windows Vista, 7 and 8
- Support for new HD Video resolution, 1280x960 and 1600x1200
- Wide camera view field, up to 124%
- Praetorians 1.05 compilation
- Support for additional languages (interface and map names): English, Spanish, Russian, - - Ukrainian, German, French, Italian, Polish
- Support for additional game voice languages: English, Spanish, Russian
- Support for multiple sounds packs: Original, Mod Imperial 4.1, Mod imperial 5.0 and Lord Of Rings
- Includes all set of multiplayers maps: Mod Imperial 4.1, Mod Imperial 5.0, Mod AS, original maps
- New texture Skinks
- Customize menu background image

We strongly recommend all users to read this guide:

I hope this help.

I have to use the desktop icon to launch the game. If I use the steam play button I get a black background instead of grass and roads. The pointer also blurs.

Other than that the game seems to work fine with this mod.

I was about to ask in the forum if we wouldn't be getting localization/translation for the game, since I played it in Spanish back then, but I've just found this thread, so I'm downloading the mod and will certainly give it a try.

Thanks!

It seems to work ok, but only when I run the game out of Steam. If I run it from Steam, it tends to crash after the video of the first campaign scenario.

Anyway, I'd fix a thread in this forum to indicate this mod so people can have the localization of the game to other languages that Steam is not providing I don't know why...

Yes! You cannot run this game from Steam client, since Steam client was not fixed to work correctly with Praetorians game, unfortunately. Steam team has missed that point. The problem is not on the game itself.

I still can't play and still no one can inform me why.

I extracted the files but get a "Praetorians mod complex 2.1" with a star symbol marked .tmp, no idea what happened.

Maybe the unzip went wrong. I used WinRar and it went fine. The "star" was a folder and, inside, I found the installation executable.

Using 7zip and I've never had a problem before.

Have you tried downloading it again? Are you downloading the file from the source mentioned in the guide?

Got it to work thanks to the mod maker posting on Moddb.com forums. Seems it had to do with my virus protection but thanks for trying to help here as well.

I am actually having that star folder problem and I can't figure it out. My antiviruses are disabled as well.

I downloaded this mod from Moddb.com and unzipped it. My Anti-Trojan Scanner tells me this has a Trojan attached (Demp.135) in P... PBxyqA.dat.:toxictitan:
