I am not sure but the game is made for Windows XP. If you are using anything newer than Windows XP there is a chance that it will not run. I am guessing you do not use Windows XP because it is very old. If this is not the case make sure you validate files because you may be missing a file or two. Hope this helped.

Make a shortcut to your desktop and try and run it as an admin. (rightclick on the icon and you'll get the option). If that doesn't work, try and google how to set up compatibility mode.

I can't run it as administrator, or in compatibillity mode, because this is an diffrent kind of shortcut, when i right click the shortcut, i can change the URL of it, so it is like a shortcut of an internet browser...

I know this is not helping, but I'm having the same issue. Almost the same thing happened with GTA 4. All I had to do was right click the desktop icon, and go to properties, and then go to compatibilities, and change it to windows 2000, or windows XP. But it won't let me do it.

if i right click the shortcut, there is just no compatibillity option

Try to right click the icon in (if you have steam installed on C) c/program files/steam/steamapps/common/imperial glory

I ran it in Windows XP, but it still says: This application can't be initialized

Same problem, not a graphics compatability issue, running with admin doesnt work either, worked once I had completely wiped the PC but crashed again after a week, possibly having more than one graphics cards confuses the system? It being an old game it probably doesnt have the capability to differentiate between the cards

but i only have one card

Is it integrated or otherwise?
PolterGijs Dec 29, 2014 @ 5:58am
yes it is intergrated

You need to download PlayReady or something like that. That's what I had to do though it automatically came up. I'm on Windows 8.1.

If you are on an integrated card try disabling it and then re-enabling it, if that doesnt work then buy a new card and use that to run the application instead

Just for the record I still can't get it to work, I am just suggesting ideas based on my knowledge of PCs
