Massive IO bug for the controls [work around - found]

Well this is the second time I bought the game on the PC and it still doesn’t work(out of the box), the Windows Store version will not even boot(can not get it to work at all).

At least I found a work aroundfor the Steam version to be able to actually play it finally.

Basically when the game asks me to pick a controller and I select Xbox 360 game pad(you cannot pick the K&M btw) the game will lock as in the over lay stays for selecting your controller even though I did. You then cannot interact with the main menu.
Well the work around is as follows it is pretty mental what you have to do. The dev have to fix this for it is ridiculous and unacceptable.

* note – a Xbox 360 controller is mandatory to get the game to work if you don’t have one atm your are out of luck, even though K&M is an option when the game boots up? *

- Unplug Xbox 360 controller
- Keep pressing ESC on your Keyboard
- Wait till you see the main menu it will have start and a bunch of other option below it
- There will be a prompt that say no input found
- Plug in your GamePad
- Select Xbox 360 game pad and then confirm below then press the start button on the pad
- This will now lock up and you cannot do anything
- Alt F4
- Unplug your xbox 360 controller
- Re run the game make sure you wait till the main menu shows up there will be the prompt on top saying no input found.
- Plug in the xbox 360 pad
- Now keep in mind Start will be highlighted Yellow and you can actually select an menu item but you can only go into one of the main menu items.
- Go into options and change whatever you want and save
- The main menu will be dead again
- Rinse repeat press alt F4
- Now you can play the game but always make sure that you never have you Xbox 360 game pad plugged in when you start the game.
- Run the game wait for the main menu to load up
- Plug the controller back in and now you can finally play

From that point on if you just play you will only have to unplug you game pad on loading the game, just note if you don’t select Start in the main menu you will have to do the whole cycle over again.

It be great if this was pinned so other can actually play the game and the devs are aware of the massive bug in the game and it gets fixed.

I'm having a similar issue, or perhaps it's exactly the same thing. I Don't have my 360 controller plugged in at the moment because I only have so many compatible USB ports for the things I use on a daily basis, so for now My razer keyboard and mouse(which is what I'm attempting to use to play) plugged into two ports, while the third is taken up by my headphones. When I open the game K&M option shows up when asked to select an input, yet so does touch screen, but I don't have a windos 8 touchscreen laptop, just windows 8. Upon trying to move the mouse and cursor around to select and move forward, I get nothing, and none of the keys work to select anything. I will try this ridiculously long method and hopefully it'll set thing straight but this is just insane lol. Thanks for the workaround by the way I hope it works for me.
