Xbox controllers only?

Hi, I'm using a steel series controller as my windows 8 laptop doesn't seem to be compatible with my xbox 360 controllers, even with x padder. It appears that My steel series isn't working here, are there any fixes?

I know it probably isn't the answer you want, but honestly I'd get an Xbox 360 controller or an Xbox One controller if you have the money. (The official drivers for the Xbox One controller are out now and they work great.)

I have an xbox 360 controller, and like I said it isn't compatible with my laptop. I doubt I'll pay for an xbox one because my current cheap controller can play most controller games, but thanks.

not compatible? How so? I have multiple computers and official 360/XB1 controllers and third party 360 controllers and they all work fine across all systems...

You're not trying to use a wireless controller with the USB play/charge cable are you? Because that isn't how that works.

That being said, the wired Rock Candy controllers that just about everyone sells for $25 work great, although I still prefer my wireless chrome controllers.

Alternatively, you could try x360ce which will let you use pretty much any controller as an xbox 360 controller, but it can be a little tedious to setup. Used to use it with a PS2 controller.

I'll try the x360ce, thanks. Since my pc controller is like a PS controller, that should be fine. And I used a wired controller, not the wireless with the cable. After searching around the internet various people told me Windows 8 didn't support Xbox 360 controllers for some reason.

Reinstall the drivers?
