Was working, now all I have is a black screen

I played the game once and it ran fine, I did the tutorial and first mission. Next time I tried playing the game it just turns the whole screen black and my pc completely locks up until I restart my pc. I am running on windows 8, any help for this?

If you are running Team Viewer/xfire , turn it off and try again

Things that have worked for other players:

What operating system are you running?

1) Disable UAC/Run Spartan Assualt as administrator
2) Run Spartan Assault in compatibility mode on Windows Vista Sp2/Windows XP
3) Update graphics card drivers and update windows
4) Close external programs such as Xfire, teamspeak, teamviewer, skype

If your computer ''locks up until I restart my pc'' then the problem is probably with your old broken PC, and not Spartan Assault. Learn to maintain your computer, reinstall Windows, clean the dust out.

thanks for these suggesstions I will try them out, however you should not make foolish assumptions about my PC being old and broken, or me not knowing how to maintain it, a quick look at these boards shows that this game is buggy so putting the blame on me seems foolish.

Right, try running in compatibility mode for windows vista sp2/windows xp sp3

tried every compatibly mode setting and none work.

why would the game work fne the first time I loaded it and never work again?

One thing worth mentioning is every time I start it the master chief head pops up in the lower right hand corner of the screen and then nothing happens from there

Hmm. Did you dissable movies by following this? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=269471659&insideModal=1 If so, delete the intro movie files, and let Steam re-download them by verifying the game cache.

I tried disabling the intro movie as per the instrcutions on the guide and still have the same result

Uh oh, black screen of death! Kind of ironic for a Microsoft game.

I have the same problem: First it was working just fine, now its just a black screen. I re-installed it: same problem. Tried the suggested options but to no avail :(
