ANEURISM IV

Scum complaining but I don't think they're strategizing
I see a lot of Scum complaining about needing weapon buffs and not enjoying going up against Cortex security, but that's definitely the point of the encounter for the world building established. You do have issues of cops camping the underground, but the difficulty is mitigated by the many rat ways that I don't see being utilized i.e the loop under the wartime factory.

I've played both sides and I notice a distinct lack of coordination on the scum's part despite them having a radio to talk to each other from any distance. It may be a result of the type of role play the game draws out, as it's very underdog and all-in. Things come together when a Zealot starts giving orders, and my worst times as security has been dealing with Scum hit and run tactics on me and civilians.

Scum are great at draining patience and resources, but I think they focus too much on getting the big kills. My most successful Scum was lead by a Zealot who only cared about sacrificing and turtling away until the Cult event could be initiated. The constant kidnappings, conversions, and breaking of important machinery lead us to a big hit that lasted quite a while until we ourselves began running dry on resources topside.

I'm sure there are little intricacies I'm missing that die-hard Scum players really want in the game or balanced, but I personally always love the thrill of hiding and trying to pick off Cortex Security with sticks and stones. I almost think it's overpowered that the Scum cost is only 5, as a person with maybe 15 anamnacyte can give the whole thing a go 3 times, which is a long way with some good planning.

I have to say, a raid is a terrifying thing. When 5 cultists run out in an unexpected place and slaughter everything in the area and escape at the first sign of serious resistance to appear in another part of the map. You don't know where the danger will come from, but when it does, all you have to do is run and hide in terror.

Yeah, organized rebels are insane. I joined the rebels with about a dozen other people and we had two guys who were like, career rebels who organized the hell out of us, and we were scary even without a kitted our arsenal. One or two rebels trying to jump a Cortex is probably gonna end with them getting killed, but 5 jumping a Cortex are gonna win, and if they can find a sympathetic doctor then they're in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ business.

Too many people are complaining about how hard it is to play the scum/cultists... The server I mainly play on is pretty balanced between Cortex and Scum, and they've nearly wiped us several times during peak hrs. Like OP said, it's all about strategy and planning. They used guerrilla and hit-and-run tactics to great effect, and they were hitting multiple spots at once. It's so challenging and fun when people actually organize like that.

A sole cortex player can have fun.
A sole scum player cannot.

Scum is an incredibly important role but unless you can convince 3+ people to switch over, there just won't be any scum.

A server can run just fine without Scum so I wouldn't say they are incredibly important.

It can be fun to be a solo scum player, just poke out every now and then to kill a prole, maybe make an IED and blow up a neurostabilizer, shoot out cameras and crawl back in a hole. You might not be able to make the server crash with rot, but you can still perform the entirety of the role.
I agree that scum shouldnt be overpowered enough to easily take over a server without skill and coordination, but come on they are super weak. The starting for scum sucks and the recipes are really hard to make.

Keep the class at 5 anamecytes but make the starter pistol (frommer) easier to craft and 2X loot spawn rates with more machine trinkets, plates, as well as add more loot spawns in the underground. Maybe make the shipping crates near the pit lootable.

In general anamecyte gathering is very bad right now. Theres only laundry and wartime factory.

Laundry is pointless, 1/8th(12.5% chance!) is way too low, make it 25% or 50% chance every time you submit a folded laundry.

Fishing is always full and needs a pipe anyways. Leave it as is.

Metal working is the most atrocious of the bunch though. It's never active because the generator runs out in 40 seconds, people leave the machines on to grief and jerrycans have an insane amount of cost to make, They should be 1 plastic. There should be a waste garbage dump all the way across the map from the metalworking where you can take garbage from and then go back to metal working to put it into the biofuel tanks.

I know they are adding more jobs to do, more fates and more mechanics but as it stands right now the game is really stale as a scumbag when there's only 3 of you and you can barely craft a pistol.

In general the game is lacking a lot. It needs customizing, NPC stores, new mechanics, more drugs, more illegal activities to undermine the cortex as a prole.

When some of the Cortex is sold over to the dark side, it becomes one-sided the other way, I can tell you from experience. One bad doctor and one bad limitator can cause a lot of damage, and a lot of confusion and mistrust between the Cortex.
