Getting past the crushers in the public school?

It looks straightforward enough, but I've tried it four times and I keep getting pulped by the 2nd crusher down the path on the left in the public school. Pretty sure I'm moving as fast as you're able to go, but I keep coming out squished on the other side and have to restart. Is there something I'm missing? I didn't see a switch or anything. There's not a "run" key or something, is there?
