Console enabled?

I can't seem to access the console, working with the steam version and the UK keyboard. I know I should be pressing ctrl, shift and the uk version of the tilde key, but nothing happens. Been hammering diferent key combos for a while now - does anyone know if the console just isn't enabled on steam, and if so can i enable it somewhere?

WIldTangent, please, for the love of god, there is LITERALLY no reason not to enable cheat codes for the game at this point. the game has been out for so long that I was playing it AFTER it was already released about 2 years before, and that was a LOOOOOOONG time ago. Listen, at this point, no one cares about achievements, no one cares about secrets or challenges. We just wan to have fun with a game that's basically dead. So please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, just enable cheats, please. :)

Have they even put it back in yet?? If so what are the keys ? If not I wish they would I progress fasted as a new character in game but I'm stuck on certain monsters that are higher lol then me and can't kill I need the cheat thing to game a few lvls so i can move on... thanks

ok would their be a way to re-enable the console in the program files or recreate it so we can impliment it ourselfs? ive found plenty of ways to cheat by messing with the program files but for the game to work i would assume a console is required its just disabled in the program files somewere, is their a way to re-enable it myself cause i got all the achevments legit it only took me 1 try on the easiest difficulty

I remember putting hours into this game and its prequel. Today I was thinking, man it would be fun to reinstall FATE again and muck around. Even better it's on steam! Don't have to deal with WildTangent Studio's crap. Anyone remember tangent coins? The lowest depths of hell are saved for the idiot who thought that up.

Anyway got it installed and went to pop open the console and... wait.

Really?

Nevermind, WildTangent a new spot in hell has opened up who are we sending to fill it?

Actually, though, you CAN edit the various items.dat files to give yourself new items. Just make sure that they can only be picked up via fishing (minimum fishing level 0, minimum level 999) so you'll never find enemies using them against you. You don't want to get one-shotted by that enemy using the OP sword you just created for yourself.

My favorite thing is to create new gems; so far as I've been able to tell the enemies never use gems, so you can make those as OP as you want and never have to worry about them being used against you.

Also, save a copy of the original items.dat files that you're modifying, because if you ever want to be able to play in hardcore mode, you'll need the originals.
