ATLYSS
Anyone else get heavy MapleStory vibes from this?
Alright, so I initially heard about this game while it was blowing up on Youtube and passed it off as another generic furry game. Youtube kept recommending me videos, and I eventually decided to watch a bit of gameplay. Decided to buy it after I realized it seems very reminiscent of MapleStory without all the slop Nexon has added to game over the past couple of decades. I'm curious if anybody else was pulled in for that reason, and if the game is going to further develop in that sort of direction.

As for the things that remind me of MapleStory; you have cutesy chibi characters that can be changed at any time, the world is made up of a bunch of small maps connected by a series of portals with safezones in between, the fact you can dash while jumping reminds me of all the different flash jump skills, there's plans for further specializations on classes (like the second job advancement), bosses that show up on certain world maps after achieving specific goals (Slime Diva), and finally cosmetic only items.

I'd really enjoy it if the game added more stuff reminiscent of MS like that, I used to enjoy the game a lot way back in the day and have always looked for something that could sort of emulate the experience without Nexon's garbage.

what i dont even understand how do i read that
Nope sorry, didn't get any MS vibes out of Atlyss. The closest vibes I got I'd say it's like Zelda OoT except the controls are actually good unlike that abomination that people keep praising due to nostalgia.

Maybe graphically, but in terms of Gameplay, this feels like what I wanted Maplestory 2 to be before it launched in the west and failed.
Novice skills and menu shortcuts are carboncopy from pre-bigbang MapleStory

I can't say it reminds me of Maplestory specificaly, but the game gives me massive vibes from scattered korean mmo's I played in my teens long ago. Just, a lot more fluid.

It's mainly the graphics, UI, and music that give me those feelings.
I loved maplestory 2! i totally get the vibes you are talking about!
Yeah they're both solid action rpgs. The main difference is maplestory got a gacha injection and this got silicone

Mostly PSO here myself. Granted I did play too much PSO2 before NGS ruined that.
There absolutely are Maplestory vibes, many of the enemies seen in game can be connected to maplestory variants, and being a generic adventurer until level 10 and having to learn your job at a class hub is exactly how it goes in that game as well.

I thought you were crazy for comparing it to Maplestory. Albeit having a job system.
But I absolutely get you now after you mentioned Maplestory 2.
Hoping an area gets added that's reminiscent of the Temple of Time. Was always one of my favorite areas in MS due to the theming and especially the music. I'd say an area like that wouldn't feel too out of place in a game like this.
