Tons of non-controller games have this.
Just hold a key down, the mouse over to the image of the emote you want to use.

I'm not sure where they got this information from, since the faq clearly states he's planning on looking in to native controller support later, just not at the moment.

edit: also I don't see how this would even fall under that category.

This would be good even with keyboard-only. TF2 does something similar: You press a button (G) and then keys 1 through 9 in order to use taunts you have in possession.

Emote macros are mostly possible with steam controller config, but it's kinda buggy

An emote wheel is one of the mods people have already made, if anyone's wondering. Google Atlyss mods, there's already a couple QoL things in there.

There is a mod for that of course. Right along with other what I'd call "quality of life" mods (as opposed to cheat or naughty-bits mods) like chat colors that are in common use. Establishing configurable hot keys for certain things wouldn't be unwelcome though.

We already have things like sit (X) and weapon stowing keys (Z) in the game. So that wouldn't be too big of a stretch.

How do you change chat colors? People have said use /chatcolor and the hex code, but it won't work for me.
