ATLYSS
Similar games to Atlyss?
Me and a friend love the game but we've finished what content is currently available and its left us with an itch.

Do you have any games to recommend that would be similar/follow the same recipe as Atlyss? AORPG with a central hub that sends you out to locations/dungeons for quests.

We've played games like Diablo, Warframe and MMOs (GW2, WoW) but they're not really as similar to Atlyss as we'd like

If you are playing Atlyss because you like action gameplay and leveling / gearing up your characters, then i can recommend other games i like for the same things — Remnant, Borderlands, Gunfire Reborn. Yeah, i know that they aren't EXACTLY like Atlyss, sorry.
You're looking for Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe. They're console games from the 1990s and 2000s, kept alive by private servers.
Like Venc said, PSO is very similar!
PSO2 NGS (Phatasy Star Online 2: New Genesis) is on steam, big recommend
Games with staging areas, I remember off my mind, Kritika, Closers, Soul Worker. Problem is, all of those games are a mess. They are badly monetized and unbalanced, but at least they are all free to try... Warframe used to follow the staging area format back when the PS4 was released and the game was utterly unknown, but then they added open areas and all the other stuff.

Other than that, a fast action game with suggestive furry character designs like Atlyss may not exist. I mean, the other games I've seen with playable furries are either platformers, metroidvanias, or AO rated mating games.

One last f2p game I've been trying recently is Zenless Zone Zero. It comes with more than one hub but I haven't seen any multiplayer. It's also a character gacha game by the maker of Genshin. But it looks good, combat is fast and decent, has very nice cutscenes, and has more than humans as playable characters to collect. Progression is also less convoluted than Genshin.

This is kind of a rare niche of a genre TBH. Most games similar to it are more of the "Monster Hunter" variety were you almost exclusively hunt giant monsters, but there's a hub were you gather, RPG elements, and lots of loot. These games however don't often have dungeons to explore, a large variety of enemies to defeat, or chests to open which is kind of what these kinds of games are about. It's the 3rd person Diablo Genre essentially. Diablo is in an isometric camera view.

The Phantasy Star Online series is the obvious one that's already been mentioned. There's a lot of choices when deciding where to play it, and which sequels to play. If you don't want to have your save, and data tied to online servers, you could emulate the console or handheld versions, which some of those also have splitscreen. PSO2, and New Genesis are freetoplay online only games, but every game prior, both portable or console was online and offline playable. I'd highly recommend playing Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity if Universe looks interesting to you, it requires an English patch since it was never localized, but it has a lot of content, and refined gameplay.

Gunmetal Gothic is an upcoming indie game with a Bloodborne aesthetic, and it really seems to capture that PSO feel in terms of graphical style, and gameplay. I am not sure how deep the RPG or customization will be. But, just watch a trailer or gameplay clip, and you'll see what I mean, and why it's a potential exciting release. Also shares the low poly look like Atlyss has. I'm super excited for this game.

Pseudoregalia is a platformer, and doesn't share a ton with Atlyss, but if you like the artstyle of Atlyss, furry characters, platforming, and oldschool graphics, you might be interested in it. Great game!

Outside of these, most of the similar games I can think of are freetoplay games that are essentially dead, and rely on servers. Freedom Wars is getting a remaster this year, and that, if I remember correctly was more Monster Hunter, than Diablo, but it was pretty chill, and had great customization options. God Eater Series is another I really enjoyed in that genre. Code Vein, an anime styled Souls-like was really good IMO. All these games have central hubs, and share similar elements to a 3rd person Diablo game. But again, most are Monster Hunter or Souls-likes.
Give Phantasy Star Online a shot, I recommend trying out the Ephine private server. You create a character and go into dungeons to level up and find gear. It's really fun if you have a friend playing with you. If that's too ancient for you there's also PSO2, you can download New Genesis (the latest release, open world)right off of steam, PSO2 classic can be downloaded as an addon.
would've recommend PSO2 if sega didn't ruin it.
I'd actually recommend staying as far away from new genesis as possible, maybe try phantasy star universe or psobb.
I don't know enough about psu but i hear it's similar(ish) to early pso2 seasons with how it handles PA skills.
psobb is fun but it's comparatively much slower paced than atlyss, still fun though.

Clemintine and ephinea are the popular private servers if i remember correctly.

i would recommend Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity, it's japan only but it has a full translation, it has multiplayer but it's also single player friendly, has a enormous amount of missions, dozens of weapon types and spells.

I hope SEGA someday port it to steam with peer to peer connection for steam friends, that would be amazing.
Found this one recently. It's not furry and not even 3D, but the combat seems a tad similar, at least from the video at the store page.

Highly recommend Ephinea PSOBB. If you ever come across Mercy! she's the nicest person you'll ever meet and loves helping new players.

PSO2 is up but in a ghost state. No updates at all. NGS is the one getting all updates. BUT, if someone has not played any of those two, they can play them both pretty much solo and treat base PSO2 as a single player game, but any cosmetics and some of the free currency you get there can be used in NGS. Though right now the biggest use I'm seeing from these games is for people to design fashion and housing for social stuff. Combat is kind of a second fiddle and story is in a distant third place.
