Volley IS okay damage, but enemies float/fly and move fast. (suggestion)
Volley is very good when used on the training area in the sanctum, but that's only because there is no floating, flying, fast movement etc. Even knowing where the enemy will be doesn't matter much in combat if the attack isn't fast enough to make a difference. Additionally, the range of Volley is very limited. It can't be used further away, so nobody can really play artillery archer and support their team with Volley while the tank players fight up close. It really doesn't make any sense that a Volley, which in most fictional movies, as well as real historical examples, are often fired from a greater distance. So both fiction and realism are making it a huge point that a volley of arrows often come from mid-range to long-range, not the very unusual close range. Even ignoring realism entirely, the attack for Volley doesn't really look very, well.... finished? I guess? a little light goes up and then it goes down. It's cute, I get that it's magic, but... It would be WAY cooler if it could be sent from across a boss areas battlefield and we could watch that little arrow light go woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh *whistling arrow noises* AND SPLASH DOWN *sounds of arrows landing*

Volley just doesn't feel... "VOLLEY" enough in terms of style or functionality.

Volley damage seems to be good though.

With that being said, I think that the spread shot skill has too long of a cool down and too large of a spread to be able to direct that damage onto mid-level to high-level enemies. Too many of the arrows go to waste, and the ability only seems good for very early enemies, again in extremely close range.

I really feel like there should be more long range abilities for bow and arrow users.

I feel like if volley and spread shot were combined into one ability that fires the same arrows as volley in a spread similar to spread shot, but a narrower spread that is able to be focused onto one medium distance enemy, this would be very useful. This attack would be fired horizontally exactly like the normal bow and arrow attack. Right now, the bow and arrow charged shot are everything that spread shot + volley should be (although charged shot is not as strong)

A horizontally fired long range Volley would be even more impressive if the player needed to account for "bullet drop" or "arrow drop" over time, and angle their Volley shots to go long distance enough before they angle down and land on enemies.

/honest feedback.

It just can't hit most enemies in a practical setting. The AOE size needs to scale with level like most other AOE skills. It would also help if Volley applied a slow to enemies that are currently being hit by it.

cursed idea: make it a passive that has a chance on hit to drop a patch of falling arrows

Interesting thought.

That's also very interesting.

Volley is kind of a weird thing because Its like okay in solo play but in multiplayer it can be really good if your allies have a stun move. Hell they don't even have to be stun, you can ask your fighter to grab agro with stomp and stand still as you shred the enemies around them.

The only way I was able to get mileage out of Volley was by first using Pay Day for the guaranteed stun, which can be AOE, and then using the skill. Otherwise, it's only really usable on very slow enemies like Golems and Monoliths, and even then ONLY if they are bunched up together.

It's amazing what teamwork can do, that's very fun.

I mean, for the amount of setup required to start using the skill, it just doesn't seem right for me I guess.

Volley isn't useless in on its own if you really know how to use it.
The reason why it's not far ranged is because Bandit mainly focuses on the Hit and Run playstyle, actively looking for a fight for a swift kill or clean up weak crowds quickly with their skills (most, are AOE oriented).

Volley works as a skill that you can kite enemies in for one devastating combo that synergizes with other skills at your disposal.

General uses in solo situations:

Instead of directly aiming at an enemy that is going to inevitable going for a strike that will out-maneuver the skill [I.e Mushrooms,Poltergeists], try kiting them into it. Since most enemies with high mobility are usually fragile, they'll die quick within Volley's small AOE.

Anticipate their movement, when they reach you is when Volley should be raining down arrows.

How to support with Volley:

Run up to your teammate and literally plant the skill on them, since they'll be parrying and standing their ground, Volley will quickly take care of swarmed teammates.

Since you're a bandit, you probably aren't going to deal much damage, that means you probably won't pull as much aggro as the warrior in your party unless you start the initiative.

That or you can synergize Volley with Payday as a comment stated:
Simply prime Volley and use Payday afterwards to stun them into the falling arrows. But most fast enemies are really fragile. But this is just really overkill.

TL:DR: Kite your enemies to your volley and stand your ground in range, boom big damage wave clear. I'll probably make a guide on youtube or smth

Good yard, hope this comments help.

Volley was kinda ass because sacrificing DPS by using Bow wasn't worth. Now it's sorta acceptable, because bow is decent, mobile options like jump attack got nerfed, and there's less enemies.

Of course, your mileage may vary online if the ping halves your fire rate.

personally id say bandit is the class that screams "GET GOOD"

it has barely any defensive options and even worse if you're playing glass cannon (which i do), but it rewards you with tons of damage (bow skills for bow bandit, or close range damage with katar bandit)

so yeah unironically... if you want to make use of volley you have to get good

kite enemies into it, dont aim it at where they are
make them go INTO it

btw, they pause for a bit if they have to stop and walk towards you; so firing volley, dashing through it, is a great way to land some shots

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm getting at. Its a really good ability in a party. I don't think its bad in solo mode, you can definitely make it work still but if you don't wanna deal with it you can just use bomb trap instead.

If anything I would say spread shot is more for solo play when all the enemies are chasing you and Volley is more for multiplayer where the enemies are chasing your allies.
